The background:Had blood work, everything seems fine with the exception of testosterone. Free testosterone is within the normal range but total testosterone is around 200. The doc I went to for a second opinion on the blood work said "No need to worry at this point. If you aren't feeling any side-effects of low testosterone then you're not in need of HRT." My libido is fine, I'm still active, but..and this might be all in my head now...since seeing the test, I feel as if I'm not making any progress, although I may be and just overreatcing
My question: Can someone just naturally have low-test levels and still be fine, healthy and gain mass and/or lose weight?
The answer to your question is definitely YES. I have two friends with test in the low range who work hard in the gym, eat right and have made great gains. I recommend incorporating lots of compound exercises (squats, deads, etc.) as this can help increase the test level naturally during your workouts. Don't worry about the test results too much, because if you haven't noticed a problem before then you're fine.
Whether you think you can or think you can't, you're right!
Thanks...good to know. I wonder why some people feel ****ty with low test and some don't. I only took the blood test out of curiosity...
Lie and get some test outof the deal!
Yes. It has to do with free testosterone v. total testosterone. Free testosterone is what the body can use. The rest is bound up in a protein called shbg, sex hormone-binding globulin.Originally Posted by Y0yo
If the opposite were to happen and my free testosterone was low but my total testosterone was within a normal range, would the there be more of a problem? The only reason I ask is because I'm going crazy looking for the blood work papers to double check that I heard it right...Originally Posted by Minotaur
With the low dose of test the doctor would give, I doubt there would be any benifits. Of course I don't know for sure about this. One reason I don't want to take test is because I'm hoping to have a family soon and don't want to deplete my little warriors...Originally Posted by [[[----]]]
Yes. Keep in mind total test is all over the place during the day. You need multiple tests to confirm it. Free test is a good measure.Originally Posted by Y0yo
The goal of your doctor should be to get you into the upper quartile of normal...which is typically about 100 mg / wk. You can safeguard your fertility just fine with HCG.Originally Posted by Y0yo
I had 2 blood tests, both taking in the morning almost 30 minutes after waking up, no food or water. Both showed the same results. As for HCG...the doctor will allow me to go on HRT however before that happens I want to be sure my lady has a baby. Just want to be on the safe side.Originally Posted by Glaim
