increasing cals - slowly or overnight?

Hi, I just decided to bulk, and I need to get from where I'm at now (1900 cals) to at least 2400 to start. Now I know the body HATES sudden changes, so how should I go about the increase? Add 100 cals every other day? Or 200 every other day? or all in one day? Anyone that can give me some knowledge, please do! Thank you!

I'd add in 100-200 cals (ie go to 2000-2100), leave it there for a week or two, then another hundred or two, wait another week or two, and see how your body responds.

That's how I'll do it this fall for my bulk - and my cals are about the same as yours right now.

I agree.. Although it depends on your weight, muscle mass, etc. I maintain a bit over 3500 kCal or so, so for me, when i decide to bulk, I add about 500 a week until I get to around 6000 - 7000. Similarily when i cut, I shave around 400 a week until i get to about 2000. Basically, rely more on how your body feels and responds than sheer numbers. Look in the mirror, pay attention to your level of lethargia, etc. and let that information guide you.

I went from eating 900-1000 calories a day straight into eating 3000 calories a day, and I didnt gain a single ounce for over a week and a half.

To lose weight. Because I find controlling my calories incredibly easy to do and because I love the taste of protein.

As to whether I expected to gain weight? Yes, I had hoped I would, considering that is my plan on a bulk.

How much fat do you accumulate on a bulk? If your maintenance is really 3500 Cals, why do you go so high to bulk on? I wouldn't think anyone would need to add that many excess cals. If so, then I wonder if your maintenance calculation is correct.

    great advice!
"It is often said, mainly by the "no-contests", that although there is no positive evidence for the existence of God, nor is there evidence against his existence. So it is best to keep an open mind and be agnostic. At first sight that seems an unassailable position, at least in the weak sense of Pascal's wager. But on second thought it seems a cop-out, because the same could be said of Father Christmas and tooth fairies. There may be fairies at the bottom of the garden. There is no evidence for it, but you can't prove that there aren't any, so shouldn't we be agnostic with respect to fairies?"

    Richard Dawkins

"Out of all of the sects in the world, we notice an uncanny coincidence: the overwhelming majority just happen to choose the one that their parents belong to. Not the sect that has the best evidence in its favour, the best miracles, the best moral code, the best cathedral, the best stained glass, the best music: when it comes to choosing from the smorgasbord of available religions, their potential virtues seem to count for nothing, compared to the matter of heredity. This is an unmistakable fact; nobody could seriously deny it. Yet people with full knowledge of the arbitrary nature of this heredity, somehow manage to go on believing in their religion, often with such fanaticism that they are prepared to murder people who follow a different one."
