why drop down to 103? what's the next highest weight class? maybe you're closer to it already, and can just focus on getting stronger/gaining muscle.

112 would be the next weight class. I figure I would be better at 103 considering I'd be wrestling people somewhat smaller then me ( In height - Which some say could be bad - Long legs, easier to take down ).

I do know that 103 at 5'10 would put me at a BMI of 14.8 which is more than underweight.

You will get destroyed at 103 by someone who isn't a stick. Gain 10-50lbs of muscle, asap.

If I were to start from scratch as a young 13 year old again, I would do every press, squat, and perhaps deadlifts, for my entire career with chains. -- Dan John

The problem is, at the weight I am at now ( 115 ), I'd still have to drop 3lbs and GAIN muscle. How can I do this? Any specific strategies?

    Edit:

Seems like most of you think I should just gain muscle weight and move up weight classes. A lot of these people have a HUGE muscle advantage over me ( At this point ), I think I'd have to sit out a season to train.

Wrestling is an ancient and great sport, but it was never meant to be reduced to this mockery... You weight less than likely 90% of the girls I know right now, and if you want to weigh 103 make that 95%. You might as well be wrestling a female. I understand why there are different weight classes. Not everyone can be a 220lb beast, but NO male wrestler should be under 130-150lbs in my opinion, unless they're under 5 feet tall...

dude, why stop at 125? why don't you eat, lift with the basics (squats, deadlifts, etc..) get plenty of rest, and then see where you are. maybe you could comfortable hold 150 lbs. or more at 5'10". don't limit yourself to a set weight if your training is going well.

I can't see myself getting up to 150. I'd love to but it really just seems impossible to be honest. I don't have any weight training equiptment and I barely have the time to go to the school gym. The most exercise I get is swimming.

It really depends. I have nothing against the bulk look BUT I'd rather have the athletic look. Also, seeing as swimming is my main sport, I wouldn't want to be that that bulk.

    103 @ 5'10"

What the **** is your coach thinking?
    Squats work better than supplements.
"You know, if I thought like that, I'd never put more than one plate on the bar for anything, I'd never use bands or chains, I'd never squat to parallel or below, and I'd never let out the slightest grunt when I lift. At some point in your lifting career (assuming you're planning on getting reasonably strong and big), you're going to have to accept that most people think you are some kind of freak." -Sensei

there's nothing athletic looking about 103 lbs., unless it is on someone under 5 feet. not meant to be mean, just true.

I haven't brought it up with my coach, nor will I.

That I do understand. It would be for the competition, not for the looks..

I understand where everyone is coming from. I won't be dropping down to 103. Most probably bulking to 125.

Is that enough? If so, I'll do it right now. Does anyone know off hand how much protein that is? Also, If I'm going to be bulking, shouldn't I add some carbs to that?

    Thanks a lot.

man you're already extremely light-weight. why would you want to drop to 103? seriously man, I know girls (who try to lose weight) who wanna weigh that weight.

At 5' 10" 115 I would just eat anything in sight. Go read the diet and nutrition forums and drink a few liters of milk while you're doing that.

im 5'10 and i wrestled at 66kg (147lbs) and i toward over most people and pretty much had to win with strength n stamina cause to match their speed i had to go all out u gotta go on a mass bulk n try to get to like 135 cause you will get killed at that weight u dont eat fatty foods but eat alot of chicken pasta and fish and work out 3-4 a week while workin around wrestling practices and remember to eat 7x a day but seriously man you'll get mirked at 103 theres no way u would want to stay where your at because when u move up in weight you'll be stronger and go to all the practices to work on your technique because thats the best way to neutralize strength

This is why I quit wrestling... personally I do not think the whole cutting to an unhealthy (low) weight is a good idea. Plus, I'd just rather be huge (I'm working on it...) and pummel people in football or boxing :evillaugh .
