First of all, set a more realistic and healthy goal for now...like 10 - 12% body fat. That's low enough for most people to see their abs, if the abs are developed.
Your parents not cooperating limits what you can really accomplish for diet though. Just do what you can and don't let not having optimal foods discourage you. Do the best you can with what you have. Don't eat the ice cream. Do eat the kidney beans... That sort of thing.
If losing weight is priority, cut out the soda. Diet coke is really no better for you than regular. Drink loads of water. 1 - 1.5 gallons a day. Fruit juice can be good, but don't drink it freely like water. Those calories count too.
Cardio helps speed your metabolism, so do it but don't expect that to burn fat off. Dieting burns fat off. Set a number of calories, like 2200 or so and take in that many each day. If your weight doesn't change after a few weeks, drop the number a little. It can be a pain to guesstimate how many calories are in your mom's goulash, but you can find some help with that stuff on websites.
The one thing I would really lean on my parents for is a multivitamin to take daily. Especially when trying to lose weight. Spend your allowance if you have to or whatever. I know at 14 you can't drive, but if there'a a place where you can work part-time within walking distance or something that money could help with food and things.
yeah u gotta cut out the soda and eat clean meanin no junk food and what are you doing for cardio are u just walking or running? Cause if u walk it will take longer because you use more calories running and the way to lose weight is to put yourself in a Caloric deficite. That doesnt mean dont eat but eat healthy exercise lots and your body will have no choice but to shed those pounds.

Most people "write properly" in English, but that's besides the point.Originally Posted by titan_014
I bring this up often and have been called, I believe, a Grammar Nazi. However, I can butcher the language with the best of them.
But, when I would like a serious, coherent and usable response to a post, I try to be as clear and concise as posslible. And when I am reading someone's post, clear and concise writing helps me to understand the question/situation better, and better helps me answer.
These aren't IM's (or PM's or text messages or whatever) so you aren't going to get an answer any quicker, nor are you going to miss something posted by someone else. However, if you take the time and make things clear, you might get some good advice on this "site".

First of all you will not reach 4-5 % bodyfat without going on a starvation diet or very close to it. Even highly elite bodybuilders who are on steroids have trouble getting that low and they certainly can't maintain that level year around. Having your bodyfat that low, means you almost certainly have to do some unhealthy things to get there. As for maintaining it, doing unhealthy things is a given. And you will lose a lot of muscle mass on the way, which will make losing weight even harder, since muscle helps to burn fat.Originally Posted by titan_014
Don't cut out all carbs. Reduce but don't cut them out completely. That is not a good thing long-term.
Reduce total calories (not drastically) and workout regularly. Do cardio as well.
Do not try to shoot for unrealistic goals as 4-5 % bodyfat. At 10-12% you will look quite lean anyways.
