DOMS in legs; how long does it last?

I did legs on Tuesday and my legs STILL hurt! WTF. Am I over training? I think I've been eating enough. I don't get it...

I did up my weight by 20lbs on the leg press and 10 on leg extension and 10 on the leg curl on Tuesday so that could be part of it...

    Ow, walking sucks. lol

I've been known to have doms for over a week.

The more I train, the less it happens. I finally went back to 20 rep squats after a few weeks of sets. During the sets period I didn't get DOMS. But when I went back to 20 reps it came back.

However, I trained Wednesday night and it's now Friday night and my legs feel almost completely better. Yesterday I was hurting.

What works for me is after DOMS sets in to do some squats with no weights. By "pumping" my legs the next day (usually 20 reps with no weight) I usually end up feeling better sooner.

My doms usually last no longer than 2 days, if i've been trainning on schedule. But if i take 2 wees off, i'm usually sore for about 4 days.

I don't think you're overtraining. You might want to try throwing some lighter leg work in on the opposite day of the week and see if that reduces the DOMS.

I'm usually sore for 3 - 4 days. Shouldn't be anything to worry about.

Well, it's Saturday; 4 days after I did legs and the DOMS just went away... Yesterday was bad, Thursday was the worst.

I guess you guys are right in saying that it takes forever to heal back up. I dunno, maybe it's just because legs involve such big muscles.

Sometimes it can take a week if you've really overdone it, but it will usually go away more quickly if you do some light work a day or two after the training session.

I feel like a broken record, but muscle soreness is a really poor gauge of progress and intensity. It's unavoidable sometimes, but IMHO (and I know many here disagree w. me) if you are getting it all the time, you really need to reexamine your training.

    Yes and no.

I find some parts never get DOMS, no matter WHAT I do to them (arms, shoulders) and some ALWAYS do (glutes, quads, pecs).

Nothing excruciating, but it always happens to some degree.
