Afternoon all,

I only post once a month or so with progress updates. For those who remember, I was on a 20-rep squat program and was making good progress.

The 20-rep squats finally plateaud out on me at 175 pounds. After three workouts attempting to break it, I decided it was time for a change. After maxing out (bench 170, squat 220, deadlift 200), I switched over to a cycle not unlike powerlifting, with bench and assistance on Monday, squat and assistance on Wednesday, and deadlifts and assistance on Friday.

I'm aware this is the bodybuilding side of the forums, but my primary goal is to bulk up and I feel that a good powerlifting-style cycle on the core lifts will help out.

I've been slowly increasing on the core lifts with 5 pounds added per workout. The last three sets are singles in the 90% of max range on the core lifts; afterwards, 3x8 on several different assistance exercises. Progress continues.

I fully enjoyed the 20-rep squat program and intend on going back to it next summer. In the meantime, I've noticed some definite changes; my quads, lats, and shoulders are showing most of the gains. Pecs are shaping up a little. My bodyweight is hovering at around 168; up from 145 four months ago.

I'll post as progress continues.

Happy liftin',
