You started a thread just to post that? You have to be kidding me. If Ebertor Roeper step down I am sure you are next in line for the job.

this thread is a little overdue since this movie is like 3 years old, but I'm guessing you just watched it on HBO lsat night. This movie falls right into my type of movie, I really enjoyed it. The scene where he wakes up drunk on the coach to see a knight staing at him kills me. Also the scene where he is all marked up and goes to the doctor. And finally when the guy shoots the arrow into the sky. I'm easily amused.

The movie was great. I really enjoyed the quirky sense of humor. It wasn't predictable, which is hard to find in movies nowadays. I'm also surprised to see a thread about this movie considering it came out quite a while ago.

I agree, I just wish he would have written a better ending.

the ending was a little anticlimactic...but I think it worked for the movie...gave it some semblance of resolution and let the symbolisms do the rest of the job. I think anykind of ending that would have patched things up or shown something major changing would have made the movie formulaic. Ultimately he got what he was looking for from the experience.

I thought that movie was WAY overrated. I couldn't stand how the writer (I think that's Braff) tried to make the movie "quirky" and random. Dude it's a movie, it's scripted... so the quirky thing isn't doing it for me.

Don't get me wrong I like Portman but this just isn't my type of movie. A lot of people who liked Garden State also liked Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, which I didn't like either. Just not my type of movie...

i don't personally think that garden state was quirky for quirky's sake

I sort of agree, even though I wanted to love this movie. This is the type of movie I usually love. I enjoy quirky, I really do. But this seemed so, like, overly wannabe quirky. Like I could actually feel the attempt of quirkiness instead of just the actual quirkiness. It all felt so forced. It had it's moments (you guys mentioned most of them already) but for the most part, that's how I felt about it.

I really liked the soundtrack though, although I hate every person who is now in complete and utter love of The Shins because they heard of them from this movie.

Oh, but I did think Eternal Sunshine was great.

I definitely agree on that one. And it's pathetic because so many people love his movies because he puts in random stuff and random (stupid IMO) dialogue into his movies.

Tarantino has a bandwagon and everyone has jumped on it. I honestly think his movies suck and are very unoriginal.

I liked the movie. It's very Jersey. I love that one of the Designing Women was cast as the moron friend's mother. Natalie Portman is great in that movie- that character is like an extension of her character in Beautiful Girls. This isn't one of my "favorite" movies but it's definitely something I'd watch again.
Homer Simpson - "The code of the schoolyard, Marge! The rules that teach a boy to be a man. Let's see. Don't tattle. Always make fun of those different from you. Never say anything, unless you're sure everyone feels exactly the same way you do."

I didn't enjoy the movie very much, but found it to be well done. I did, however, enjoy the soundtrack.
