    Shoulder clicking

I seem to have developed a click in my shoulders mainly my right it only occurs when i do db shoulder press and it only happens if i bring the du,bells together at the top. if i go straight up it doesnt click. Now it doesnt hurt but for some1 reason i really dnt like and and now my shoulders seem to click often doing general stuff. Does any1 have this problem, no of a way to stop the clicking or is it just something uve got to deal with??

    thanks

    Do you feel any discomfort?

I don't mean to scare you, but there's a slight chance of it being an inflammed or torn rotator cuff. The extra motion used to bring the dumbells together could just force the cuff tendons a little more to create the clicking sound.

Aside from having it looked at to prevent worsening, my advice would be to give it rest. Heat treat it, if you want.

When you go back to using it, lift lightweight and in slow, impeccable form. Try doing some light DB raises prior to DB pressing to warm it up.

My shoulders would hurt if I tried to bring the DB's together at the top of a pressing motion. Bench, Incline, OH didn't matter...
I would refrain from trying to touch the DB's at the top of any pressing motion unless the weight you are pushing allows for the DB's to touch because of their size, not because you are breaking the plane of your elbow with your wrist.

Since I have concentrated on not breaking the plane of my elbow with my wrist, my shoulders do not feel strained during pressing movements.

I was just going to make a similar post. My left shoulder clicks which doesn't really bother me but it hurts when I do barbell bench. I can do dumbell bench and it's fine though so I don't really know what's wrong. I actually injured it ~7 years ago in highscool playing baseball and it bothered me for 6 months the doc just said rest it and it was fine eventually. Over the years occasionally it acts up but this time it's been bothering me for a couple months. Its fine if I'm doing something like dips and worst if I'm doing a dumbell front raise.

Yeah, happens to me all the time. I don't even pay attention to it anymore, the doctor had a look at it and said it was fine and not to worry about it.

it doesnt hurt or anything but its just for some reason feels funny in my head if that makes sense anyway as has been said above there is no need to touch them together which is perfectly right. Thanks for the good info as always WBB
