There are tons of things you can do. Go to the gripboard.com and you will find a whole world of grip fanatics (myself being one -it is addicting). But if you are just tring to get a better grip for shrugs and deadlifts and such, then I would recommend doing farmers holds. Get a weight that you can hold for about 30 sec. Do 3 sets - forearms will be toast and get pumped and strong.

First of all, if you're using gloves or straps - get rid of them.

Second, go over to IronMind and order the Trainer, the #1 and the #2 grippers. Best thing you could do for your grip IMHO.

Lastly, ASK ME for help (I'd be glad to help ya!). I'm a certified Captain Of Crush and I train my grip on a regular basis and have been doing so for a few years now.

OR... you could just do static holds. Take a really heavy dumbell in each hand, and see how long you can hold them at your sides. Try to last longer each time. Hold them till it hurts and you can't hold it any more. That will help.

Deadlifts using overhand grip as opposed to mix gripping.

I say use straps. I know some will argue otherwise, just giving my opinion.

Do static holds while doing shurgs at the end of your set hold the weight for as long as you can. Or talk a heavy pair of dumbells and hold them in your hands and walk around the gym it may sound stupid, but it works.
"No maybe I can't win, maybe the only thing I can do is take everything he's got. But to beat me, he's gonna have to kill me, and to kill me, he's gonna have to have the heart to stand in front of me, and to do that, he's gotta be willing to die himself." Rocky 4
" You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't how hard you hit; it's about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward. How much you can take, and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done. Now, if you know what you're worth, then go out and get what you're worth. But you gotta be willing to take the hit, and not pointing fingers saying you ain't where you are because of him, or her, or anybody. Cowards do that and that ain't you. You're better than that!" Do 8 sets of deads on leg day or hamstring day. Youll get better eventually. And doing chins and pullups helps.

Or you can just do 3-4 sets of deads if you want depending on your goals
