    Hurt leg squatting?

Hey guys last week when I was squatting I hurt the top of my leg some how. So I rested over the weekend and hoped it would be better by monday, it felt good but when I squatted the pain came right back. So today I worked through the pain but right now it is really sore. I have to squat again on friday but am thinking about taking it off and also taking next week off from squatting to let my leg recover but working everything else.
My question is will my squat lose any power from taking a week off, I dont want to lose anyweight off of my squat.
Or do you guys recommend I work through the pain and squat?

What type of pain is it? Regardless, a week off won't kill you.

Muscle atrophy won't really even start until after around 6 weeks of inactivity. Taking a week off might be a good thing. Rest is your friend even as much as lifting is.

Yes, can you explain where the pain is and how and when it hurts? You should always err on the side of more rest and recovery - better to be undertrained and healthy than overtrained and injured...

Where the arrow is pointing is where it hurts.

The pain just feels like its strained, everytime I squat the pain gets worse and worse, today it was the worst yet. Just feels like someone stabbed me in the lag right there. It is really sore right now, So do you guys recommend I take the week off to recover, its actually more like 10 days. Or work through it?

If I should let the leg recover, what kind of workout should I do next week for my upper body?

In the long run..taking the time off will help you. can you imagine if you injured yourself so severely by not resting that you could never squat again?
It's a real possibility. Pain is there for a reason my friend.
Some is good..some bad...this is bad.
Out of the night that covers me,Black as the Pit from pole to pole,I thank whatever gods may be for my unconquerable soul. In The fell clutch of circumstance I have not winced nor cried aloud. Under the bludgeonings of chance my head is bloody, but unbowed. Beyond this place of wrath and tears looms but the horror of the shade And yet the menace of the years finds, and shall find, me unafraid. It matters not how strait the gate how charged with punishments the scroll,I am the master of my fate: I am the captain of my soul.

I get pain in that area from squats as well..........

Make sure you're stretching SUPER good before and after squats. You might want to jog a bit beforehand as well to loosen up things down there.....

Yeah, I believe the reason I got hurt was because I didnt stretch before I squatted, and now I am paying the price.

    EVERYONE REMEMBER STRETCH BEFORE LIFTING.

NO! Don't stretch! Warm up. Light and medium weight. 10 reps w/ light, 10 more with light, 5 or six w/ medium and 3 more w/ medium. Nice and slow and go down as far as you can.

    Stretch when you are done.

Have you tried changing your stance? Maybe a little wider or narrower will help.

Yeah I was thinking about it, I was thinking about going a little wider.
But cant do anything right now, Dont want to cause more injury then there has to be.
