i like to do my weights fast but whats more benificial fast or slow?
or slow goin down and explosive up?
I like to always take the negative slow and then semi explosive up, not too explosive where you loose control.
Moving the weights too fast could easily lead to injury, and your form will most likely suffer. I would pick a comfortable cadence, like 3 seconds down/3 seconds up.Originally Posted by samj

I think if my concentric movements are too fast then I usually consider increasing the weight...

although if you have 300-400+ lbs on your back im sure you arent going to worry about counting your eccentric and concentric portions of the lift as long as you do it with good form.

I don't count Ryuge, but I'd say that is about teh cadence I use. I just believe in controlled movement of the weight.Originally Posted by ryuage

I believe Chad Waterbury has it right: thinking about tempo will screw up your lift.
You can't go wrong with a controlled eccentric and a fast concentric.
I'd say a 3 sec concentric is pretty slow for many movements.

so not fast or slow an concentrate on form more
neither.
I do explosive on the postive.
controlled on the negative.
as long as i do those two atriubutes I am happy.
watch Pro-bodybuilders vidoes from past to present and just big men in general. there form is often fast and not text book perfect.
