    Rounded calf block?

I'm looking for a rounded calf block for doing standing calf raises. My seated calf raise machine has one and I really like it over the traditional squared-block style. All I could come up with was this http://www.fitness-equipment.com/acatalog/SCB26.jpg and http://www.medsandnutrition.com/fitn...ster-block.htm The first is a little pricey at $85 and it's designed for squats also (raises your heels). The second is $169! Does anyone know of where I could find one for a little less money strictly for standing calf raises? Thanks.

What's the advantage of a rounded calf block? I find my calf get worked pretty hard using a "traditional" calf block...

I do my calf work w/o shoes. The edge of a traditional block cuts into my feet after a while. If you wears shoes, the soles absorb the pressure so it won't matter to you.

Put the block in a power cage, put a Manta Ray on a weighted bar, put the bar on your traps and wrap your arms over and around the bar to balance yourself by holding onto the uprights as you crank out the reps.

dude, go to the nearest luber yard. Buy a big landscaping post, cut it to fit into your power cage or squat rack. Probably cost around 20-30 bucks. And I mean the posts that are flat on 2 sides and rounded on the other 2. Not completely round or completely square.

I like that idea, Ace! I'll finish it off with some skateboard grip tape. Thanks for thinking for me!

I do my calf raises on a leg press machine most of the time. Just put the balls of your feet at the bottom of the foot platform, then raise and lower. You can get over 1,100 lbs on those things.

Which is exactly why I don't do them. Why murder your joints like that when you can accomplish the same thing using less than half the weight on other contraptions?
