my all time favorite is hugo - hugo boss.
and sometimes black - kenneth cole.

i personally find hugo to be the most masculine smell ever.

in manhattan, the club/bar scene is mostly saturated with aqua di gio on men and cool water on women. you can literally go to any gay club and come out smelling nice aqua di gio all your body and save some money.

I agree with this. It wouldn't be a problem if people wore enough to be noticeable to a person dancing or hugging them. It shouldn't be applied as if you're trying to lure someone from across the room.

This is a pretty decent site for reviews of various fragrances. Obviously no replacement for going to a store and trying things out, though:

We tend to think of Sisyphus as a tragic hero, condemned by the gods to shoulder his rock sweatily up the mountain, and again up the mountain, forever. The truth is that Sisyphus is in love with the rock. He cherishes every roughness and every ounce of it. He talks to it, sings to it. It has become the mysterious Other. He even dreams of it as he sleepwalks upward. Life is unimaginable without it, looming always above him like a huge gray moon. He doesn’t realize that at any moment he is permitted to step aside, let the rock hurtle to the bottom, and go home.

One of the best smelling is called Black Leather.
I have some sitting here and Im not even sure where it came from, but I use it all the time. Ive gotten a few compliments as well.
Dont ask me who makes it though, because I have no idea. Where it came from and how I got it still mystifies me.

To be honest, I hesitated slightly last time I bought a bottle for this very reason. Funny thing is, it doesn't seem that many guys are wearing it much any more (or maybe they just learned two 1-2 spritzes are plenty) at clubs...about 3-4 years ago it was ubiquitous.

If you want to talk overused scents, sh*t I have a bottle of Drakkar (a small one) as my "darker" cologne. It's heyday was in the 80's; I'm not even sure most people know what it is when they small it. I'm thinking of switching to Ungaro III, though (before it's discontinued).

Here are some suggestions for a man with refined taste:

For a spring/summer light scent: Happy for Men (Clinique)
Another warm weather scent: Vera Wang for Men
A favorite colder weather scent: Romance Silver by Ralph Lauren
Another great colder weather scent: John Varvatos
And one last warm to medium weather: Essenza de Zegna

All are very good scents but will cost you a bit. They're not available at Wal-mart or at least I don't think they are. Someone let me know if they are cause I'm down with saving money.

Unless those two coworkers and the manager are all hot chicks, their compliments don't count.

    cologne is foo-foo water.

Its perfume, and men are just too insecure to call it by what it is.

lmao, personally I wear Hugo by Hugo Boss and I love the stuff. I've gotten countless compliments (a few from hot chicks as well, lol). Another common one that I've heard girls say they like is Fierce.

This is one of those things that if you were to hear it in person, you'd laugh and go "Yeah I completely agree," but inside you are torn somewhere inbetween punching the guy saying in the face or going to the bathroom and crying..

POINT: I'm Russian and wear Acqua di Gio (and have a leather jacket) Of course I have the Hugo Boss and Polo Sport in the rotation as well.

whats a good cologne that is suttle. My gucci noble ran out so i'm looking for something new, any suggestions? I dont want something that you can smell from a mile away, something that that is noticable at close range, like if a girl brushes by at the bar i want her to turn around and take a sniff instead of kneeing me in the balls because i have a rocket in my poket.

J/k, Personally i'll use Drakkar, CoolWater, Intuition or Lancer(the small bit which I have left) on certain occasions.

Lancer has a distinct smell, almost like an inscense+light aftershave -I believe it may have been discontinued. - Strong stuff, use with care

I've used original obsession, and found it to be too much of a sweet smell - I haven't tried "Night".

cologne and perfume give me an instant headache.

I'd rather sit in a closed shoebox with a gassy, cigar-smoking, funky armpitted, deathbreathed cabby than suffer some *******'s raunchy skunkpiss smell with a blinding headache.

deodorant is about as smelly as I get... I can't even stand the suffocating smell of fabric softener.
