Effexor, wellbutrin and alcohol

I checked the websites for the drugs listed and googled, and asked jeeves, and they just say people taking SSRI's and antidepressants shouldn't drink, but what are the side effects? I'm not taking and meds, but I'm asking for someone else. Thanks.

I know drinking alcohol while taking wellbutrin increases the risk of having a seizure.

Well, welbutrin is an anti-depressant (that helps smokers quit the habit...most common use I've seen for it).
Alcohol, is a depressant.

Also, drinking booze is the one thing that makes me give in and light up even though I quit 4 years ago.

So, knowing the two defeat each other, and if its being taken to stop smoking, I don't think your 'friend' should tempt fate. Quitting smoking is hard and they need all the support they can find.
