as we all know, there is several threads a week about routines, straps, biceps ( :alcoholic), uneven body parts (i.e left arm bigger then right), and a full rundown on why people NEED to work legs and core
can we assemble a FAQ that answers all these questions, so we dont see 38 new routine threads a day? make it just a general reference for all n00b questions with links and backup to well planned out routines etc
yay or nay?

yay

Deadlifts bring people together. It's a fact. - Chris Rodgers
i say yay. Just look at the diet and nutrition forum.... there's three new threads a day asking for nothing more than the fundamentals that can be found in the stickies.
no one reads the FAQs
Yay, but as fma said, no one will read them![]()
Poo is also LBM - The Built
That's more or less why you make one thread (consisting of a few posts) and then the first person to read their post can just link to the FAQ and then a mod will be along shortly to lock it =P
I agree... I dont know how many times I have seen link to "What a bodybuilder eats" posted all over the board and its easier post a link than explain why you should do certain things in certain ways.Originally Posted by DarrenEff
As an added bonus, they might have to look through all the other information to find what they are looking for and they what they see might answer another question they might post.
There are in depth articles about the routines on the WBB homepage.

i knew you were a beast but not that kinda of a beast that eats grown men and children.. lilmase
chpafner, then put links to those routines as well as westside and other popular routines in the FAQ.
If people are resorting to an FAQ for answers, then they are also smart enough and resourceful enough to click the search button and read threads found in there. In essence, this entire forum is one giant FAQ already.

this has been done before I believe. I stumbled over one yesterday, but I'm too lazy to search it out again.
they obviously arent, or else we wouldnt have 3578 new routine threads everydayOriginally Posted by Kiaran
I second this notion. When you have a question you should 'search' for an answer. All the mods need to do is 'force' n00bs to realize that they just have to search the forum and they will pretty much always find an answer.Originally Posted by Kiaran
BTW this thread should probably be in the 'Feedback & Suggestions' forum.

Agreed. It is the scourge of all messageboards, and anything to help would be worth a try.Originally Posted by greathuskie
People don't make repetitive threads because they aren't smart enough or resourceful enough to search. It's pure laziness. Why search through a dozen threads to get your answer when you can make a thread and recieve it in a couple of posts?

hence the reason we need a FAQ! people will never use the search as much as they should, so just make a faq that answers most questions and direct them to it.
I can't remember the last time I posted a thread with an actual question. I have been able to find 100% of my questions in the past however long time period perfectly and quickly. Personally, I think asking for information that is readily available from a simple search should be a bannable offense, or at least a sort of time out where the user can't post for a few days.

I agree. A FAQ thread would be very helpful if it was well written and comprehensive enough. The question is who has the time to write it and who will edit it?
A child does not learn to squat from the top down. In other words, he does not suddenly make a conscious decision one day to squat. Actually, he is squatting one day and make the conscious decision to stand. Squatting precedes standing in the developmental sequence. This is the way a child's brain learns to use the body as the child develops movement patterns. Therefore, a child is probably crawling, rocks back into a squatting position with the back completely relaxed and the hips completely flexed, and stands when he has enough hip strength. This approach makes a lot of sense and can be applied to relearning the deep squat movement if it is lost. -Gray Cook

good question, the routine section should cover all things, mostly since its beginners who ask, it should direct to well written routines, or answer common questions, such as someone asking if there routine is any good with 38 sets of arms and 3 sets of legs. i mean, its pretty easy to write, will just take a little time, ill do the routine section if no one else wants, but lets assign different parts to people
who wants to do any other part? thats the easiest way to do it, then assemble them all into one part.
^ Wow that would be quite a large task I must say.

IE:
Routine:
If you are new to weightlifting, making a routine of your own is not recommended. Instead, use a tried and true routine that even experienced bodybuilders can use, WBB #1 ( http://www.wannabebig.com/article.php?articleid=25 ). It includes an even split of upper and lower body, and allows for adequate rest without too much volume, perfect for anyone to use. As you learn more about how each lift works your muscles, you can form a routine more suited specifically to you and your goals, but WBB #1 is good atleast as a starting point. If you still insist on using your own routine, answer the following questions:
-Are you doing both squats AND deadlifts?
-Are you working legs more then biceps/triceps?
If no to either of them, then drop your routine and use WBB #1
obviously theres much more you can write or you can take out some of the extra, but this answers basic questions tahtmost people ask and is an ok reference. however id rather have someone more experienced write a better section.
not at all, it doesnt need to cover every little thing, just commonly asked questions that get repetitive.^ Wow that would be quite a large task I must say.
