I am curious what kind of results I should be looking for after just one month. I have been following the NHE Eating Plan as many of you know. In around a week it will have been one solid month. I did cheat 2 days.. so maybe I shouldnt count this month. But I am curious how do I know for sure that my diet is working? Visually I think I look more defined.. and I weigh less. But I dont have access to get my bf%..
HELP!
I am guessing an 8-12 lbs. weight-loss is a good sign losing around 2-3 lbs. per week..
I think 1-2 lbs per week is a better goal.
But, someone said this recently, the mirror never lies.
Might want to invest in some bodyfat calipers; only about 25 dollars.
I totally agree. The mirror never lies.Originally posted by syntekz

I keep track every friday of my current weight and waist measurement and in the last month I've lost 1 5/8" off my waist but my bodyweight hasn't even budged a pound.

I have lost 6 lbs in about 3 weeks of dieting. I keep getting stonger though and I look a lot better, so I'll keep going at this pace for a couple more weeks, then I'll slow down a bit. A simple adjustment of protein and carb intake has given me great results.

How many calories you eating per/day?
About 2500, 1200 of which comes from protein. This is about 500 calories less than I had been eating previously.

You guys are SO lucky...I wish I could diet down as fast as some of you seem to be. Sounds like you're all doing quite well...
I'm giving it at least a month before I assess...![]()

My guess would be yes, but is it harder for women to lose bodyfat?

Alright guys thanks for the replies.. I have been following NHE Eating Plan for approximately 3 weeks now, with 2 cheat days. Basically I stuffed my face with everything in site on the cheat days. What a STUPID sh*t I know. So far I have lost around 13 lbs. I cant decide if this is GOOD or bad. I mean I know that a lot of the weight was water weight. Probably majority of it to be honest. I feel like I look better though. I just want to be on a surefire diet that will WORK and cut me up for summer...

yea monstar probably a majority was water weight. Have patience. ALso, i know rob says not to count cals but count them up every couple days and decrease them a bit (by dropping some protein and fat cals).
ALso, try to confine your cheat days to carb up days. And when you cheat choose some lowfat stuff.
i just wanted to post stating i hate gino and his metabolism.
tadger too.
that is all.

gino you are getting stronger while dieting? thats pretty cool. share the magic with me.
I just started deiting, this is my first diet in my life. I am trying to keep the cals between 2000-2500 and cut the carbs after 6pm. additionaly I do cardio for 20 min after my work out.
i am not making any progress in my weights or reps right now. Its ok but, however if i can make progress like you i would like to know what you do.
trying to lose 5-10 lbs. but the mirror will tell me when to stop.
i promise to post some pics after my body fat drops.
currently 5'9 174lbs 19 years old. i dont know what my bodyfat percent is but it is the higest it has ever been. i blame it on the holidays. =P
any tips for deiting would be appericiated. oh. i plan on having ZERO cheat days.

I gained strength while dieting...a lot of strength.
Monstar i recently purchased NHE because i was curious about the diet(i'm on a keto right now)what i would like to know is if your are monitoring your ketone levels and after the carb up how long until you are back in ketosis.a keto diet is the only diet i ever had any luck cutting on and i'm concerned that it would be catabolic if my body wasn't in ketosis because my body would be trying to stabilize blood sugar using muscle tissue.
Go heavy or go home!!
NHE isn't a keto.

Whatsup bro? Glad to see that you purchased NHE, great book in my opinion. NHE is not a ketogenic diet. It is very similar though in my opinion. Your taking in pretty moderate fat and moderate protein foods in your meals. And on every 3rd and 4th day youll have a carb-up meal to replenish glycogen and spike your insulin levels etc. I have been on NHE for around a month now and I have seen some good results. Also bro I would suggest keeping an online journal like I am on the Online Journals Board. Good luck.

at the minimum carb intake of 30 grams a day after 7 days of<20gr it would be pretty close, i'll have to reread the chapter maybe i'm confused
Go heavy or go home!!
irish mike-
Nah bro you are right on. For the first 7 days you basically eat under ~20g of active carbs per day to push your body into fat-burning mode and out of sugar-burning mode. Then he bumps it up to ~30-60g of carbs per day. So its similar to even the same in some instances as a ketogenic diet.

Hey MonStar... took your suggestion to come check this board out. Good info you got here. I'll be around. Thanks.
