We all know the shorter guys pack on mass a lot easier, and the tall, lanky guys have a hella hard time doing squats and deadlifts without damn near killing themselves. almost all Mr. Olympia's and competitors are in the 5'9" - 6'0" range.
i'd say 5'9", you're not too short, and you're not too tall with the long bones.
Well, what do you all think?
My old workout partner would blow up in no time. He's 5'9. I like 5'11'' right in the middle.
arnold was 6'2

Oh, Arnold is still 6'2". He isn't dead yet.![]()
But he IS shrinking! I'm more than certain he's no longer 6'2" tall.Originally Posted by jkirkpatrick

yea it easier to put on mass if your shorter like 5'9'' but if your 6'0'' and have the same mass your going to look much better, even though it may take a little more work.
This thread cheered me up. I have decided that 5' 6" is the perfect height for body building for me.

Arnie has really shrunk, you see him in some in movies after Terminator, and he's an average hight.
I'd like to go with the 5'9 assertion since that's about how tall I am.![]()

I'm 5'8 which is kinda short.
I'd like to be 5'10 because it's easier to look good. I see lots of taller guys who just look so tall and thin and their legs are always skinny. I guess the good point about being short is that you can be stocky much easier.
6' is the best. not short and not too tall. also its a nice, even number.

I'd say it really doesn't matter. Bodybuilders come from the general population and are of all heights as noted by folks chiming in with their respective heights. If you're going purely on looks, which is what bodybuilding is all about(gawd knows its not about fitness), then I'd say taller would be good. Most professional models are around 6'2" so that'd be decent. Unfortunately, we can't grow our height like we can with muscles or else I'd already have taken way too many cycles just to be tall even though I'm not short. Just overly average in height. What bodybuilder wants to be average?
6'4 sure is a lot of work. My deadlift sucks, too.

I think the Perfect height for bodybuilding is whatever God gave you. Everything has an advantage and disadvantage. For smaller guys, they can't do really high weights as their body/skeletal frame has its limits with being smaller and thinner bones and tendons connections. They do, however, bulk up much more quickly even if they're weaker. The bigger guys can lift the heavier weights and can get larger muscles, not to mention, their calves are generally going to be bigger. However, the larger muscles are in actual size, not in proportion with their body.
On a side note:
Does anyone else think that most bodybuilders when in a competition just look like a a bunch of big deformed balloons with veins and skin stretched over it? The muscles are shiny and round, like a balloon.
<.<
They've been cutting like mad for show, so their muscles are going to be more defined and veiny than they look normally. And they are "shiny" because they put on oil before the show. Some bodybuilders even lift some weights before show to get a pump going. On a side note:
