    Hair styling.

I've got a psuedo faux-hawk at the moment, going to get it cleaned up and the sides taken back nice and close. But I digress, have some light brown put through overkill? Foils?

How about an MSPaint diagram of where you want color? I am normally against highlights for men. I'm also usually anti-highlights for women.

    My favorite highlights story:

So one day I'm watching TV and figure skating comes on, some pro show, not a real competition. Oksana Bayul(sp?) is one of the skaters, so I'm watching it. There are interviews with the skaters before they go on the ice, and Oksana is asked how she is doing, what she had done to prepare for this competition, etc. Oksana looks at the camera, with those big doey eyes of hers, and answers, (I'm paraphrasing), "I practiced, and I went to the salon, got my headlights done, and now I'm ready." You had to be there, I couldn't stop laughing.

It's a fake fake hawk. I think. I got a haircut a week ago and getting the guy to go as short as I wanted was a chore. "But you won't have enough hair on top if I go shorter, it won't stand up!" Ugh. I asked him to cut to specification, not to think.

    Wanna trade?

Stylist: How do you normally wear your hair?
Me: Short short on sides and back, short on top and longer toward the front. The front is up a bit while short and then off to the side when long. + hair cream.
    S: Ok.
...starts cutting hair, trimming hair, etc.
S: Run your fingers though it, tell me if it's ok.
M: Too long. I normally get #2 clippers around sides and back and the top should match.
    S:Ok.
    ...trims and cuts some more.
    S: How's this?
M:Too long. What setting did you trim with?
    S: #3
    M: WTF?
S: Is this ok? Want to go shorter? Didn't Chris used to cut your hair?
M: It's been a half hour. I will deal with it. kthnxbye.

    UGH.

Something along the lines of these two, but a mix of light brown and blonde - nothing really loud.

And a picture of my hair for reference, well how its supposed to look after a fresh cut.

I would not do that Beckham blond tip thing... it's very strange looking. Kind of a faux-skunk.

Maybe get some pieces along the hawk bleached, if you so insist on highlights. If you like the geometric thing do a zebra-like pattern.

Exactly why I hate switching stylists. Mine now knows summer short or winter short. And lately it's all summer short even in winter. Then we can just shoot the **** for 30 mins.

Got highlights with my faux-hawk. I don't always style it as a hawk, but it came out pretty well. I went with thin, patterned highlighting. But yah, it will look awkward if you want your sides ultra short.

Highlighting tips is better suited for a more uniform, spiky/messy hairstyle.

This is how I deal with my hair and it is the easiest thing in the world.

#2 buzzcut, then I let it grow until it starts getting too shaggy and hit it with the #2 again.

I like not having to worry about my hair. Once it starts getting long enough that I have to brush, comb or "style" my hair, I just cut it back again.

I ended up with a dark brown through my hair, you can't even tell there has been a colour but through - but appears denser.

w3rd. I bought a pair of clippers from Walgreens for $20 six years ago. They still work and everytime my hair starts to require morning assistance, I take the clippers to my head. Best $20 I ever spent
