I have recently started lifting alot heavier in my squats, lunges, LP's and for the last 2-3 weeks I have noticed a slight pain in my quad and hamstring. Last night after a set of 315 on squats it felt like someone had plunged a knife right into my leg. I noticed a little bruising on my inner thigh and it just feels kindof numb. I have decided to lay off of the legs for a while but is there anything as far as wrapping or anything else that you would recommend?

So what was this caused by?
Too heavy on the squat, bad form, inadequate warmup (No offence meant - I also doubt it since you've been training a while and you're lifts are strong) etc?
Or just bad luck?
How would one go about avoiding this kind of thing?
Getfit: Currently my right foot is fractured, my hips are in bad shape due to a car wreck, my left knee is bothering me alot(prosthetic) so I totally understand where you are coming from. I will give it a while and see how it goes. Thanks so much for your advice it is always great to hear from you.
Davidelmo: Eversince I started working out I have always focused on my form so I don't think that it is the cause. I think that it is a combination of not stretching enough during the week and not being warm enough. I am also active in Martial Arts so my legs take quite a beating.
As far as preventing injury I am not sure that there is a way to stay injury free. This is a sport that puts your body through the ringer and all we can do is lift smart and learn our bodies limits. I have yet to learn my limits. HAHA

People tell me that when I train I am like a robot. They say that they try to talk to me and it is like I am the only one in the gym. I have found that my mental focus is the only reason I have come this far with my recovery. On the flip side if I allow myself to talk in the gym or come in half hearted I will not lift as well. So I would have to say that my mind is much more powerful than my muscles because I have done things that I shouldn't physically be able to do.
My father in law runs this 9 mile race every year and I have done it twice with him. Well this last year I was unable to train for it because of a bad car wreck, but the week of the race I decided that I was going to run it. I made it the full 9.2 miles and at the end all of the food and water came up and I was drained. He said you have got the strongest will power that I have ever seen. To me that is the only way to be to others it is crazy.

As far as your leg goes i would let it rest till its completely healed. then work slowing back into your leg workout.

I have not lifted for about a week and plan to take the rest of this week off to recoop. The leg is feeling lots better but I will probably wait a few more weeks to get back into the legs. I started using L-Glutamine and zinc in combination with my other supps. and it seems to be aiding in the recovery process.
I was told that creatine is bad for your liver???? WTF?? I swear when it comes to supps. it seems that you can never know for sure if it is safe or not. Next they will say that regular vitamins will kill you.

It is a National Qualifying Bodybuilding show that is held here in Tulsa, Oklahoma every year. It is suppose to be a big show. This will be my first time to ever attend a show so I am totally stoked.
I hope that we do well with our Tshirts. We were told that there was a vendor there last year that made over 5,000 with his Tshirts. His designs weren't that cool either so I think that we should do quite well. I have my degree in Graphic Design so I think I have a hand up on it.
