Back soreness, is it due to a weak back?

I have been having soreness in my lower back for the last week. It is usally set on by running for over 1.5 miles or squatting. It is not painful, but feels different from sorness in my other muscles. Do I just have a weak back? Do you think I can fix this by doing lower back strengthning exersizes?

What's your training routine look like?

If it's not painful, I wouldn't worry about it too much. But if it's been going on for a week, I'd take a little break if I were you, just to get feeling normal again. You wouldn't want to aggravate the situation. How long have you been lifting?

I ues to get a sore back from running because I was carrying a lot more bodyfat. It would basically jiggle with my stride, and the movement of the fat eventually took its toll--mostly on my upper back. It was just very exhausting to compensate for that jarring, basically.

It could be a weak back, but it could also be weak hamstrings and/or abs. Weak hams mean your low back is compensating (especially when running or lifting heavy) which will make it plenty sore.

Without getting into specifics, due to a lack of time, this is my workout.

    Monday
    chest and tris

    tuesday
    legs

    Wensday
    back and bis

    thrusday
    shoulders

    friday
    powerlifting exersizes

    I do abs everyday.

As far as fat goes. I'm certainly not the slimest guy, but I don't consider myself fat either. I don't think the excess fat on me would really effect my back because nothing jiggles.

And I've been lifting for about 4 years on and off.
