I can't take it anymore. I've been injured for 10 months, and im done with showing off. Before I started I was about 7% bodyfat, Then ofcourse I gained a large amount of muscle in a short time and probably reached 11, Now that i injured myself i'm probably 14% with not alot of muscle.
I'm looking for ideas on different ways to exercise with my neuralgia affecting my ribcage. I can't do any sort of upper body movement whatsoever, even with 5 lb weights, until I start more therapy. I'm trying to do leg curls with 45ish pounds but im not sure if im hurting it and making it last longer. I also have a hand squeeze thing but im wondering if im just going to keep stressing it.... i'll probably diet at around 1800/40/40/20/6meals/ regardless and try to walk, since running is just sending constant shocks to the infected area, my goal is just to get back to where i was before I started working out while I wait for this to heal.
Antonious.. can you explain what neuralgia is?
The NIH web site says it is a facial pain:
http://www.ninds.nih.gov/disorders/t..._neuralgia.htm
If you can't do upperbody work... can you squat?
Also remember that 14% BF is still pretty good... definitely still healthy.. and better then 95% of Americans..

No, I can't squat, and yes, neuralgia could affect your face if it's trig neuralgia, unfortunately, even though that is said to be the most excruisating pain a human can go through, i'd rather have it then mine, which is intercostal, (affecting my ribcage) while the pain of my neuralgia at most is probably most of a few knives stabing through my body for a minute or two and then what feels like a ball moving around near my spine the rest of the time, the most pain is caused by not being able to ride a bike or swing a bat at the age of 15 without worrying about making it stay longer, and it's already been awhile.

dude.. I just searched some of your previous threads...
It seems that you were only dianosed with this about 2 months ago.. and perhaps have been feeling the effects for about the last 4 months or so..
With that said.. I think you have not given your doctors enough time to treat you and figure out a way to conquer this affliction.
I'm NOT saying this to be harsh... but there are many folks who have gone though more and come back to BB/Weightlifting. You are only 15.. yes, this neuralgia sucks for you.. and I know I wouldn't want the pain.. but don't give up... on anything.
I wouldn't worry about your BF right now... worry about anything will only slow down your ability to recover or heal yourself from this affliction.
Think positive.. think that you will conquer this... and even more in your life. Meditate.. and tell your body to heal itself. Mentally move your muscles... or if you can only lift 5 lbs, then lift 5 lbs. But make sure your doctor says it's OK.
Dude.. my thoughts are with you.. and I hope you get over this neuralgia soon. But don't give up..

I would follow your doctor's advice.

Is there a cure? How do you get it? I read the wiki on it but it doesn't explain it too well. It says its caused by Shingles or Herpes. Neither of which I think you have.
nemo me impune lacessit
i'm not giving up on this healing, im giving up on caring about losing muscle, or keeping the muscle i have by keeping my calories up. I want to be like I use to, before any of this. and if i go back to that, and it heals, i'll decide if i want to start up again then.
theres no cure, my doctors advice is to not do any exercise and that i might want to consider swimming.
and when I say no cure, I mean theres nothing I can do and get rid of it tomorrow, its like curing a torn muscle, if that makes sense

im meditating now to, and i think going back to how i use to be at the low bodyfat will make me feel better atleast which could help the mental aspect of it healing

Antonios,
When I first injured my rotator cuff I did not wait long enough for it to heal, and I re-injured it numerous times and supposedly it will never be as strong again.
Because of me reinjuring it I lost a year of working out, and almost went into a depression gaining over 30 pounds and losing what it seemed like was all my muscle. So I do know somewhat how your feeling.
Just take your time and make sure your body heals itself, and you know exactly what you can. In the long run youll be saving yourself alot of time.
As far as Neuroglia isnt it one of the more important cells/tissues in action potentials that are sent throughout the body through axons and dendrites? If its what Im thinking about its what incases and ensures impulses go where they must in the CNS.
So if the problem with the Neuroaglia is in the stomach, is it that your lacking neuroglia or have a problem with that tissue in your rib region which is causing any action to hurt you? I might be wrong about the above, im just trying to understand your problem if you dont mind filling us in......
In any case, I hope you embrace whatever your doctors tell you. Especially if swimming is recommended. Youll keep a low body fat for whenever you heal, or if this is a chronic problem youll always be more fit then the majority of people.
In a sports related injury I had rotator cuff damage leading to little activity over the past 6-8 months.
I am now Fat, and unhealthy, looking to learn as much as I possibly can here.
Neuro = Nerve, Algia = Pain, Neuralgia is a type of pain that afflicts different areas, You can have it in your face, thighs, and your ribcage as far as i know, but theres probably more areas you can have it in. The thing I have usually occurs in females ( 80%/20 ) and causes pain in the intercostal region (ribcage) on the left side. as far as treatement local anastetic injections, lidocaine patches, and lyrica/neurontin are the major three that I know of, i've done all three, right now im doing lyrica and injections, i've had 10-12 needles each visit stuck in my back, next time I go i get them in my chest likely because it affects there too.
So can you have surgery to move or remove this errant blood vessel, or are they expecting you to grow and it'll move on its own?
