Why do I ALWAYS get irritation?
Whenever I shave I get irritation. The weird thing is, it's only my upper lip...the rest of my face never gets irritated. It says to bleed in little spots and the whole area get red and hurts. One day I'll shave and it'll be fine and the next 3 times I'll get this problem. What am I doing wrong? I don't get it.

or maybe change your razor....i boil the kettle and use that water...proper hot and a proper shave

Are you shaving before or after a shower? Also, are you using shaving cream? shaving gel? What kind of razor?

Well, I have to shave at night because of the irritation. It's usually gone by the morning. I always get showers in the morning, so I don't shower before or after I shave. Shaving cream with just a regular Gillete razor.

are u going with or against the direction of hair growth? How often do you shave? I find that if i don't shave for a long while and then shave, i'll have more irritation than if i'd shave everyday... or u could just do what i do - grow a beard

I went outside of my routine the other day and I just shaved my upper lip (was going out to a movie and didn't want to rock the dirty sanchez) and it got really irritated. I used luke warm water but I didn't shower before or after and my skin was so dry that it started bleeding from being shaved. Personally, I always shave in the shower after being in it for about 5-10 minutes, VERY hot. Clean, convenient and never have a problem with irritation. I highly recommend it, or shaving after your shower if you want to use a mirror.
Scars are tatoos with better stories.

This has been happening to me since I started shaving (I'm in my 20s now). It happens when the hair is too short. If I shave when it is relatively long there are no problems. Also, shaving in a hot shower helps a lot. Use short strokes and rinse often. Hope that helps.

I'll bet that's my problem. I'll try shaving after a good, hot shower and see what happens. My skin is pretty dry, so I'm confident the lack of hot moisture in the area is the problem. I hope.

i had that problem for years then I switched to a 2 head razor and it got better, so I switched to a three head and it got even better still

Yeah I'm in the same boat, plus acne. At least I work at a day camp, so I can get away without shaving for a while.
