    Low Testosterone Update/Insomnia

I'll go ahead and copy and paste what I put in my journal. I'm just looking for opinions on the subject.

This one is fun. I went to the doc today to get the results of my new blood test. Test levels are now 493 (up from 361 in a 2 week period). I was taking liquid clomid this entire time. The doctor says I'm fine. Super.

Then he goes on to say my free test was low (8 on a scale of 9 to 27). He said this is because of my body mass (?!?!?!?) I don't believe him. He said he talked to his endocrinologist friend and she said that she does not know how clomid would help increase natural testosterone after it has been supressed. According to the doc all it does is increase LH and FSH output. In my mind, I thought that led to an increase in testosterone. He says my clomid use has nothing to do with the raise and that he forsees it to continue upwards.

I'm so ****ING tired of this guy. He's an idiot and has proven so. Next I tell him about my sleeplessness. I ask for something like Lunesta or Ambien. He says that I dont need that. That those drugs are for people that cant sleep. I just have anxiety and I can continue taking my Klonopin at bedtime, even though a couple weeks ago he told me taking Klonopin more than 1-2 times a week is a bad thing.

I don't know what to do at this point. My free test is beyond low and the doc says that doesn't mean anything and it will not have an effect on libido. Thoughts?

First off, relax. Don't let your doc's ignorance get to you. Second, remember, he works for you. I'm not saying force him to give you the diagnosis you want, I'm suggesting that you emphasize the importance of what you're doing. This is the time to speak up. It's your body and you have obvious concerns. Also, take that article I mentioned last time if he doesn't get the clomid connection. He will once he sees the data. Even endocrinologists don't always have this figured out. As far as PCT is concerned and boosting T levels post cycle, bodybuilders, not MDs are the pioneers. They're not stupid, simply ignorant.

Finally, if you're still not satisfied, get another doctor! Seriously...remember, he works for you, not the otherway around.

Best of luck mang...sorry I haven't followed up on this in your journal.

This is purely a SWAG (scientific wild-ass guess) but I think your corticosteroid levels may be affecting your free test levels. I seem to remember something about stress hormones not necessarily lowering your total test but def. affecting your free test. This is something I'll have to research or ask around about, though.

ectx I think your correct about that. Justin what would you like the doctor to do? Sometimes you just need to tell them what you think would be a good idea. LOL Most like this approach, because majority wants to make you happy.

I'm in a similar situation. I've come to the conclusion that most GPs know NOTHING about hormones or drugs that effect them. My estrogen is 2x normal and every question I ask him on how to lower it is ethier contradictory to everything I've ever heard or I get this very reasuring reply... "I don't know, it's not really my area."

Glad this is why you get paid so fricken much!

Okay so let me put this out there. I'm in a panic because I just read about free testosterone. It would appear that free testosterone is the only thing that truley matters. Free test is responsible for libido and muscle mass. Since my free test is so low (8 on a scale of 9-27) I think this is my problem. I have two vials of HCG (4000 IU)--would it be worth taking those to increase free testosterone?

I'd go with what pub med says. The info on wiki isn't always %100.

From what I understand, HCG increases LH output which makes the leydig cells produce testosterone. If this is correct I cant see how HCG wouldnt increase free test.

it does...they just found no increase outside the proportional increase test. So free test went up because all test went up.
