Quick Survey for those that do Power Cleans and Deadlifts

I need three numbers from you, just out of my own curiosity.

    1) Your one rep maximum for deadlifts (approximate if you do not know)
    2) Your one rep maximum for power cleans (approximate if you do not know)
    3) The number you get when you divide the amount you power clean by the amount you deadlift

    Thanks in advance!

    1) deadlift max is about 325 lbs

    2) I just started doing power cleans, but I would say my max is about 120 lbs

    3) 0.37

This might be a bit skewed because I've been doing deadlifts a lot longer than power cleans.

Honestly, I wouldn't even worry about the ratio. It'll vary depending on how much time you spend training one or the other. At the one time I had a 500lbs deadlift but could powerclean 280. Now, I can deadlift around 585 and could probably only powerclean 250 or so.

Think about what you want to train and what you want to use them for. Don't worry about numbers or ratios, worry about weaknesses and using different variables in your workouts to enhance the development in relation to your goals.

    1) I work out with two sets of six at 155. I guess I can "easily" do ten reps at 135, so my approximate max is 180.

    2) For a power clean, I think 75.

    3) .484

    Max Dead = 515
    Max Powerclean = 205
    Ratio = 0.398

Obviously, I don't do powercleans often.

Honestly, there's little correlation. Both can vary a lot by technique differences as well as strength and power differences.

    Max Dead = 405

    Max Power Clean = 225+

    Ratio? Don't care...

Power Cleans require more speed... Deadlifts require more strength.... There is NO ratio between them.

that's why I'm doing this, I want to see people's strength relative to their explosiveness/speed.

I do admit that technique can make a big difference though.

Havent maxed on dead in a long time. But i got 325x5 not too hard. so maybe 400 now?

    dead: around 400
    powerclean:225
    ratio: .56

powercleans are totally different than deads. I know people that can barely deadlift 315 at my school but can clean over 250. powercleans are all about technique dude

Max dead is 495 I rarely clean and when I do, it's for reps. I could probably pclean around 205-225, though I've never maxed (no bumpers, and I don't think it's necessary). So the ratio is something like .400 (I don't feel like getting out the calc.)

I rarely power clean (only before front squats) aswell and my ratio is 0.492 or 49.2%

Lol so I do like 3 reps only per week, since I only have 3 sets of front squats.

True, but when doing a "Power" clean, technique doesn't matter as much as you think. Sure, you need to have the BASIC form down, but beyond that it is your force of power and quickness that determines the lift. If you are talking about a squat clean, those requires A LOT of technique. I am sure you can muster an extra 10 pounds out of a power clean with very good form over your basic form, but I doubt much more beyond that. Besides, most people here (including myself), in fact all here are not 'elite' o lifters, which means our form is probably on par with each other despite some minor differences or those people who don't even have the basic form down.
