Thanks. This is the first time I have been using a legit routine and I must say it is paying off. I have been getting new PR's every week. Great feeling.

    Congrats!

But 7 DL's is a lot for one set; form breaks down easily with that lift. Be careful in the future.

Glad to see that your routine is paying dividends!

The WBB routine I am using says 6-8 reps x 2 sets. Maybe I should up the weight and try for 5 reps?

If you're careful, it's not too bad. High-rep deads are nasty nasty stuff but awesome.

Definitely.. Jesse Marunde added some to his program last yr and won his next contest including the stones.. and he said "Mariusz shared with me his training secrets for the power stairs. Included in his weekly training from time to time is 3 sets of 20-30 rep deadlifts"

If it works for the big men.. and big weights.. it could work for you..
As mentioned though.. watch the form..

Personally, I've done it 3 times in the last 4 months.. and feel that it has helped to increased my DL rapidly.. although I can't do it without wraps, unless it's real light.. (Don't shoot me Anthony!!)

They're a mainstay in strongman competitions. Two of the four contests I've done have had deadlifts for reps, one a regular bar and the other a thickbar. Both the top finishers had 20+ reps (for under-175 LWs, it was 325 and 315 for both respectively).

Yeah, but a lot of people in these forums are not pro strongmen with years of lifting under their belts (no pun intended). (Nor am I)

However, I would be hesitant to recommend 10 rep DL sets to the kid who is lifting for the first time during gym class in 5th period or the frat boy who's reading this and decides it would be cool to impress the sorority gals at the campus gym by trying to pull 225 10 times.

We can't stress this enough: BE VERY CAREFUL TO PAY ATTENTION TO FORM ON DEADLIFTS, ESPECIALLY AS YOU GO UP IN WEIGHT!!
