1-2 hours.... My brother plans on getting there at 3 am. The store he called said they may only get 2 for pre-ordering.

Normally I would have something smartass to say, but I would one of those douchebags who got my 360 the day it came out.

    Good luck. Bring weapons.

After watching the news and seeing how aggressive some of these people get, I kind of want to go and fight for one. It's like a free battle royal.

It'll more than pay for itself when he Ebays those bitches.

They're not making too many for 2006.

Availability will open up, obviously, come 2007, much like the 360 last year.

There will be 2-4 times as many Nintendo Wii(s) available 2 days later, however. I think that's what Nintendo is counting on, with their release being, oddly enough, a couple days later on a Sunday.

If you don't get a pre-order PS3, you're basically not getting one. They won't even have half a million MANUFACTURED prior to 2007. I think the figure is closer to 300k in the U.S.

Compare that to the availability of 900,000 units for X360 between the same November release date and Dec. 31 of last year. You're basically looking at 1/3rd the availability.....and that's not good unless you've got a hook-up, plenty of cash for e-Bay sales, or as Shooter said, "weapons". I guess Ninja skills would suffice.

You're looking at $500 for the sh*t, base-level model with a wired controller, no High Def cables, and no available Blu-Ray movies that anyone cares to watch. But hey......I spend thousands of dollars on lifeless sticks of wood (guitars), so who am I to laugh? :alcoholic

I'm excited about how PS3 games will look come Winter 2008, but not so much now. The current so-called flag-bearer for PS3, which is "Resistance: Fall of Man" gets sh*t on by "Gears of War" for X360, which can't currently run on PS3 (yet) because Sony's unit only has half the video (not total) RAM.

And if one doesn't possess Ninja skills, a .357 revolver will work well in lieu.

From the way its worded on their website you will get a wireless controller with both units and you wont get an HDMI cable with either unit.

Their will be 500,000 PS3's for launch... japan gets 100,000 and North America gets the rest.

Their will be 2-4 times as many Wii's available to begin with, and their will be no shortage of Wii what so ever.

The PS3 wont need half the video ram that the 360 will.... it will be able to access it off the disk just as fast. Either that or load what it needs to into ram and keep other things on the Blu-Ray disk.

The Blu-ray disk at 1X is 3.33 times faster then DVD at 1X so accessing off the disk is alot more of a reality. Who knows what the BD-ROM in the PS3 is capable of reading at so in the future, you may not even need all of the ram the PS3 can afford.

Ebay has strict strict rules on how you can sell them.

I must have a feedback score of 50 or more.

My feedback score must me 98% or higher.

    I may only list 1 Pre-Sale Playstation 3.

I must accept Paypal as my only payment option.

I must include a photo of my Pre-Sale receipt.

No "Buy it Now" will be allowed.

No one day listing will be allowed.

So I hope he has 3 ebay accounts

ya if i were to wait in line, i'd try to buy 10 at once, and sell 9 on ebay, amazon, yahoo, people i know etc. I'll probably just wait till they get all the bugs out and have more games. I'm happy with my PS2 still, and the new SOCOM and Sopranos games come out in a little over a week.

Really? When those Ipod minis came out, my younger brother worked at Circuit City and we must have sold ~30 of them (mostly to people in the UK) for double what we bought them for..........all on ebay.

I guess they're trying a cya so Sony doesn't sue them.

Not really. This has nothing to do with Sony or Nintendo. It's a CYA for ebay.

The rules are for presales only. Once they're actually released, those rules go out the window. He's going to pick them up, take photos of the units in hand, and put them up on a one day auction with an overnight shipping option. People will pay just as much to get them the next day as they will at release.

That's assuming too much, according to developers.

Sincerely curious: what are the "must-have" titles that are pushing you to purchase the PS3 at release?

I can tell you that the Wii will be my next purchase, for instance, but I don't see myself buying it until Super Mario Galaxy is released in 2007. Just trying to gauge your preferences.

Madden 07, Killzone 2, Metal Gear Solid 4, Burnout 5, Fight Night Round 3, Need For Speed Carbon, Call of Duty 3, Armored Core 4, The next Gran Turismo, Warhawk seems kinda cool... just to name a few

A new syphon filter would be kinda cool

But in all likely hood, I'll have to wait until long after I have the system for sure to get most of those titles. Why not have it now though and hone in my madden 07 skills?

Well, obviously, there isn't a "wrong" answer there.

It basically sounds like you're purchasing the system to play Madden 07. Nothing wrong with that. Lots of fun playing Madden, plus, the new controller doesn't feature "rumble", so you won't be distracted by that!

Been downgraded to 300k for the U.S., and 100k for Japan. None for Europe, etc.

You make a point that generally isn't raised with new systems.

I've not been really pleased with the 360 releases over the past few years. The game I mostly play is the NCAA football series, and I'd rather play '06 on xbox than this '07 version.

It's fair to say the Wii will be a success, and that the X360 will continue to succeed in the U.S., but that 2 or 3 years from now, PS3 will pass everyone by a bit. I'm just curious as to what the main "draw" is to purchase the PS3 now.

Like I said, no matter how "novel" the Wii's controller is, I'm not into playing the new Zelda (loved the original), and don't care too much about Red Steel. For me, it's an annoying wait for Metroid, Super Mario Galaxy, and the next Mario Kart. Those titles are all scheduled for 2007.

First generation titles all suck ice compared to the middle and espically the later stages of a consoles life. Back when the PS2 first hit there were plenty games for the playstation good enough to keep you from buying the PS2 right off the bat. Same will be true for the PS3 im sure and shooter has his own case of it himself. At the end of a consoles life they are finally harnessing almost everything the system has to offer, and then it dies.

Both compaines are doing things that are pretty stupid, such as not having enough consoles for launch. Many many more kids that wont ever own one could have gotten them for christmas, and alot of the impusle buyers have that ability removed from them. Little kids dont know what they want, just so they can tell the next little kid they got it which is why most little kids parents wont be so ready to buy them a 500-600 dollar game machine next spring when they should be outside playing.

Then you have xbox and its bone headed move to go with DVD-9.... can you say mulit disk games?
