    How much cardio?

I am desperate to gain weight and desperate enough to cut out most of my cardio. I usually run 2 miles each day before lifting weights. Should this effect me if I want to gain weight? If so, how much cardio should I cut out?

If you want to do cardio, do it on a separate day or after you lift. On a bulk, it's really not going to help you get big, although a little is good for your heart. Keep it away from your lifting, and feed it extra.

I think that running for 2 miles before you lift uses up to much energy before you lift. On lifting days you may want to jump rope at a moderate pace before you lift as a warmup. Then lift and after you lift jump rope at a moderate pace.

I lift 3 days a week usually in the late morning or early afternoon and I do cardio in the evening on lifting days such as wind sprints or box jumps.

    Day 1: Lift/cardio
    Day 2: Cardio
    Day 3: Lift/cardio
    Day 4: Cardio
    Day 5: Lift/cardio
    Day 6: Off
    Day 7: Off

I know most guys trying to bulk would disagree with doing cardio 5 days a week. However, I am not trying to bulk. I am a martial artists and I want to stay lean and maintain my striking speed and ability to apply chokes. I used to train in MA with a powerlifter and his thick arms and legs made it difficult for him to apply chokes.
