During my first set of warmup squats I noticed a sharp pain in my right thigh. It would happen when I was on my way down, but fine on the way up. By the time I got to my 3rd set, I almost lost control of the bar and let it drop because the pain kind of spiked (It was a shooting pain). I put the bar back, and tried to stretch a bit.
I'm not sure what this is. It felt fine before squats, and it feels fine now. It's only in my right thigh. Not sure whats going on.

Where exactly is the pain? Quad, hamstring, hip, glute, upper, lower, inner, outer??? Hard to tell without knowing exactly where it's coming from.

Hmm... WAs it a severe muscle cramp kind of pain? A pulled muscle pain?
Does it hurt anymroe or was it only while squatting? Its hard to say, if it was only during squatting then it was more then likely a form issue or a cramp. But its quite hard to identify. If it doesnt happen again I wouldnt worry about it, but the next time you squat perhaps try squatting lighter the first couple times to make sure you warm up VERY well- this could be the issue.
I really cant say any more without more information

The muscle pain is still there actually, if I put pressure on (ie. when I go to sit down) but because there's no weight it doesn't hurt so much that I really take notice. It's a sharp pain, like a cut.
When I had the bar over the top of my shoulders, the further I went down, the more it hurt. It was painful enough NOT to go full ROM for fear of further injury. I plan on going lighter to see what happens next time. I won't be in the gym again until Friday. I will stretched every day to see if that helps. I hope it's not something more serious.

mmmm.... If it was pulled it would hurt all the time... Perhaps its more of a muscle imbalance or strain. Id take a couple days off from leg work and see if it passes. Its really difficult to figure out what this is over the net....
If it doesnt go away by the end of the week/start of next, go see a doc...
