    Milk or water in shake?

    Hey Guys,

Simple question here that maybe pointless in asking...

Im currently taking Maximuscle Promax as a protein supplement, the directions for use explain that it should be taken with 200mls of water..and not milk..this is supposidly for better absorbtion.

I like to drink my protein with milk because it tastes better and there is slightly more protein..do you think there are any drawbacks from doing this? And is there any need to take it with water?

    Thanks
Work facinates me, I can stare at it for hours...

The milk slows down the digestion via gastric emptying. It's up to you. If you want to use milk, perhaps try skim milk or just...well...not care and take it anyway. It won't make too much of a difference.

It also depends if you are cutting or bulking. If you are cutting, see if that extra milk fits into your daily caloric goals. For me it does not, so my shakes are made with water, and that's fine with me.

Don't forget the carbs in milk. Like others have intimated, it depends on your macros.

To say it's better absorbed in water is preposterous. Taking it with milk will increase the net retention and make it more effective.

    Same here.
It's called Mootopia and is only offered in the South at HEB grocery stores.

60% less sugar, 35% more calcium, 75% more protein, 4g carbs, and lactose free. It's also nearly as creamy as whole milk.

Up north it's made by Hood and called Calorie Countdown (used to be Carb Countdown, when that was "cool").

    http://www.hphood.com/products/prodDetail.aspx?id=578

Each 8-ounce serving contains 70% fewer calories, 75% less sugar and 75% fewer carbohydrates than whole milk.

Delish, once you get used to it. Don't let it sit out!

Why not take it with milk, the boost in taste is worth the marginal boost in calories, even if you are on a cut.

Because on some very strick diets, even that marginal calorie boost and esp the carbs will put things off. Personally I drink all my shakes with water and have no problems. When I want extra calories, I add scoops.

Same here, if I can afford the calories, I'll take the extra protein any day!
