i usually walk with my toes pointed outward quite a bit. im just wondering if this is a sign that im lacking development in certain leg muscles? or is it just a matter of me consciously pointing my feet forward until it becomes subconscious?

Um...that's how I normally walk. My feet used to point inward when I was a child and I had to wear corrective brace/shoe things until they finally pointed outward (at which point I was considered "normal").
You're overanalyzing this.![]()

you're going to want to correct this problem by conciously changing how you wwalk man. it will ruin your knees, hips, ankles, feet if you keep walking with your toes going out, i know from personal experience, you probably have flat feet right?? I have no arch, and it causes me to walk with my feet pointing outward, well it ruined my ankle on the left side, i whent to 6 different specialists to remedy me, and none could help. My ankle is much better now with orthotics that cost 300 $ to give me an arch. I now also have made it a habit to walk toes straight foward.

I'm afraid you are really a duck. I'm...I'm so sorry.
Nothing to worry about as far as I'm concerned. Could just be how you're setup biomechanically. Don't sweat it.

Outward is fine. If it's pointing outward more than it should be, it might become a problem. There's nothing wrong with toes pointing outward while walking.
If you're concerned, go see a specialist.

I was under the assumption that as long as your knee caps are straight then you're fine.
Some pointing outward is fine. I've got flat feet and do the same thing.

yea ive got flat feet.
i read some of the article 'neanderthal no more' which made it seem like there was a problem if your feet pointed outward.

got me all paranoid
Guido said it, I have been wearing orthodics since I was 9. My huge bulk when I was young was placing alot of presuuse on my knees, wich sunk inwards.
Look into getting orthodics, they will place your foot in a correct arch.
Im flat footed, but my feet go straight when I walk. If I dont wear my orthodics during excersize, squatting and rowing especially, I usually get very bad knee pain.
The way I see it, I dont want tob e building muscle around my legs if my feet and body isnt in a supported and my geet in a correct arched position.
My best friend has chronically bad flat feet, as in his entire foot is flat, completely, this affects his entire body, right up to his very stooped shoulders. Hes a bit extreme, but still. Hes went his whole life standing around with muscle forming around the bone wrongly.
Being a strong teenager means nothing.
My wrists hurt, but some people don't have wrists to be sore. My knees have tendinitis, but some people don't have legs to get tendinitis in. I seem to be going backwards with training, yet some people can't even walk let alone lift 400 pounds on a daily basis.
Dust out the vagina, and keep on lifting.
I'm easily as bad off a Fuzzy' buddy. Toes pointing outward while walking is no big thing.. WHILE WALKING. It's when you run with toes pointing outward that all kinds of stresses happen. Plus I get hellishly painful shin splints walking more than a kilometer or two (or five with my orthodic in).

Since the body follows the head, and the head is pre-dominantly locked at a 45 degree angle to preserve binocular vision, my lower body found a way to twist itself so that I'm acutally walking at a normal human pace at a weird angle. Doctors say it's the most unique adaptation they have EVER seen (and offer condolences that while it worked great as a 45 pound kid with kid flexible bones it is a really ****ty way to move as a 160 pound grown man).
And surgery to correct it would lock the eye into one place (fixed forward). I rejected that because limited as it is I like being able to move my eye at least a little. However, as the biomechanical stress piles up it's looking like a more acceptable trade off every day.

It's a pain in the ass. Surgery isn't recommended in patients with functional binocular vision (some people can't get their eyes to align properly for functional vision no matter what kind of tilting they go through) because the possible complications are regarded as more severe than the original problem. So here I am slowly destroying my ankles and knees with every step I take.
So yeah... to the original poster: Fix it fix it fix it fix it. Don't keep your toes out if you don't HAVE to.

Duck footed is the shiz!
2000 or bust
It is different. Lazy eye is where one eye is slower to 'lock on target' than the other. Mine is a complete inability to move my left eye past a point just right of center. Fixed forward I have double vision hence the turning of the head so both eyes are looking straight ahead... from the right side of each eye socket.
But if the head turns, the torso turns, and if the torso turns the legs turn, and if the legs turn I slam into a wall at a run. So my muscles and ligaments have adapted.. twisted around inside so that even though my head is turned my shoulders aren't, but my lower back and legs are. I get a lot of neck pain.

I had a chiropractor one time tell me who could adjust that. I walk with my feet pointing outward a bit... He rubbed a muscle deep inside each leg, and then viola, I was walking fine. It went back to normal pretty quick though.
perhaps ill make a doctor appointment around x-mas and see if he has any concern.
i naturally walk with my feet pointed outwards, and i also have flat feet. I've been trying to correct boths of these, and it seems to be working somewhat.
