The squat challenge was pretty successful in terms of competitors so I figured why not have another but with bench.
The competition will be how many reps you can get bench pressing however much you weigh. Rules are simpe and are as follow...
- Shoulders and butt must remain on the bench at all times
- Feet must remain on the floor at all times
- The bar must come all the way down and come in contact with your body
- For the rep to be complete it must come to full lockout position before starting the next rep
I'm sure we all trust one another so videos are not required but it couldn't hurt to get it on tape and i'm sure everyone here would be interested in seeing each others attempts. Theres no real deadline as of yet, i'll wait to see how many participants there are.

I am in, I have a much better shot at the squat challenge but competition is always good. I can't wait to see some of these numbers!

Whiteman - Yes it is a powerlifting rule and I understand not everyone here is a powerlifter but honestly, moving your feet around kills your tightness and power so you really dont wanna be moving your feet anyway. I guess if you really wanna flail your feet around you can though.

Risk - Just keep at it man, theres no real deadline yet.
I'm open to additions to the competition, there could be a bodyweight for reps division and a 225 for reps division if anyones interested? Throw some ideas around if you have them.

Brilliant idea Kev! I was hoping someone would do something like this. Bench is my best lift at the moment, so i will fair better than i will in the Squats challenge.
I like the idea of BW benching, but the 225 for reps could be good also.
I think vids should be compulsory for the top 5 place getters.

1. Bodyweight bench for reps
2. 225 bench for reps
I'd be fine with there being two divisions and it'd be fine for everyone to compete in both if they want.

I weigh close to 230 now....I wonder how many times I could actually bench that though..

Kev, wouldn't it just be easier to do it by bodyweight? I don't think it makes a difference if you have two divisions, but obviously more people will be willing to participate if it's simply bodyweight.

Yah true, could always a have a 225 for reps competition later we'll stick to bodyweight for reps for this one.

But if they're heavier then 225 odds are there a good deal stronger then someone who weighs, say 180. I think we're just gonna stick to bodyweight for reps during this competition.
