anyone faint or almost faint in the gym?

Finished my exams today and I got a bit excited at the notion of lifting more regularly now. But I haven't been eating properly the past few days so I guess my blood sugar level or something was out of wack.

I felt a little funny after squats and I felt like puking after straight-leg deadlifts. However, I persevered and went on with the workout.

When I was walking to the locker room, my hearing went off and my vision went blurry. I had to sit down before something worse would happen. Got up, tried to walk to the locker room again - walked a few feet before I had to take another seat at a bench. I bet people, were probably staring at me by that time but that was the least of my concern.

When I finally got to the locker room, changing my clothes became a huge burden. I actually had to stop and rest several times. This has never happened to me before so I was wondering if anybody else had a similar experience.

yes what you have eaten will definaltly have an effect on this. i get light headed all the time to not to that extent but with lack of proper food
Way down this road, in a gym far away, a young man was once heard to say, "I've repped high and I've repped low, No matter what I do my legs won't grow."

He tried leg extensions, leg curls, and leg presses, too. Trying to cheat these sissy workouts he'd do. From the corner of the gym where the big men train, Through a cloud of chalk and the midst of pain.

Where the big iron rides high and threatens lives, Where the noise is made with big forty fives. A deep voice bellowed as he wrapped his knees, A very big man with legs like trees.

Laughing as he snatched another plate from the stack, Chalking his hands and monstrous back, Said "Boy stop lying and don't say you've forgotten, Trouble with you is you ain't been SQUATTIN"

I puked and got very very dizzy this morning, a 6k ergo, followed by 45 minutes of hard intensive heavy lifting, and then 3x2.5kms to finish up rating extremely high.

AFter the second 2.5 I puked into the conveniently placed buckets, and could barely move, my entire vision was swimming.

But I got a PR, and thats all that counts! But so sick right now, got home and ate a tonne of food.

Dust out the vagina, and keep on lifting.

I almost passed out the first time I did deadlifts. My heart was not strong enough for the movement. After a month of doing them, the problem was gone.

The lack of sleep and stress from exams could have been a factor as well, especially since on your first day back, you're hitting some seriously brutal exercises. You might have wanted to just rest today and hit the gym the next day, but don't worry you'll get back on track.

Deadlifting today I dropped 600 pounds on my foot and most likely broke part of my little toe.

I almost vomited and then came close to passing out.

That's about the only time it's happened.

It's happened to me twice that I can recall, once after squatting, once after deadlifting. I just sat down for a minute and I was cool.

Yes. Once, I finished a set of chinups and the next thing I knew I was lying on the floor. I was lucky I didn't hit anything on the way down. It's been, literally, 20 years since that happened and I don't remember exactly, but I think I was getting over a cold or something.
A child does not learn to squat from the top down. In other words, he does not suddenly make a conscious decision one day to squat. Actually, he is squatting one day and make the conscious decision to stand. Squatting precedes standing in the developmental sequence. This is the way a child's brain learns to use the body as the child develops movement patterns. Therefore, a child is probably crawling, rocks back into a squatting position with the back completely relaxed and the hips completely flexed, and stands when he has enough hip strength. This approach makes a lot of sense and can be applied to relearning the deep squat movement if it is lost. -Gray Cook

if its a glucose problem, maybe just bring something sugary and drink it in the middle of your workout, preferably dextrose. i usually feel light headed while working out, but this has kept it at bay. its also helped me from crashing midway through a workout, now i have energy the whole way through

A few days ago I did a very high rep (20-25), full-body work-out, and made the mistake of doing front squat, then military press, then front squat, then rowing, then leg ext. Felt very very sick for like 15 minutes, then felt perfectly fine. Fortunately I didn't have much in my stomach, so I didn't puke. I guess my body didn't like the fact that the blood was rocking back and forth from lower body to upper body.

You probably had low blood sugar and exercising combining with the fact that all that blood rushed in your legs made a back mix.

one time last year i was super setting hyper extensions with seated rows, and i was getting dizzy but i had one more set and i was done for the day and i did it.... bad idea, i had this pain in my lower back that was kicking my ass no matter what i did i could stop the burn even after like 5 minutes, then i went for a drink and fell out next to the water fountain and my vision and hearing was pretty mcuh gone and some guy was feeding me water from his hands. was was on sd at the time, maybe that had something to do with the lower back burn

Well, I lost count on how many passouts I had.
I remember my first 'out cold' episode. I did a 20 repper on squats. Almost killed me. Then I was feeling optomistic so I put an extra 20 lbs or so on and did 22 reps. Then I got dizzy, sat on a bench, started freaking out asking guys to help me up to get a drink. Didn't even make it one stride and 'Plunk', on teh flloor i go. Guys woke me up and I felt great! They helped me stand and then I dont remember anything until I was outside the gym and they were draggin me(legs dragging on the ground lol) towards a SUV to take me to the ER.
That was my classic. Only time I was at the ER. Other times I new it was coming so I quickly told whoever was by me that im 'ok' but i need: water, cold clothes. to be held up, taken to fresh air.
Last decent passout was last Dec. I was: extremely: hungry, tired, stressed. Thats always my cause for going out. Symptoms for me are: Loss of vision, hearing, sense, cold sweat, increased breathing rate, and a funny one is right before I go out I talk really ****ing quick, saying like, "water, water, water, water, water, water' in like 3 seconds lol
And after I go out I always feel terrific afterwords, like king of the world good. haha

I did that for a while at one point too, worked great.
I was blacking out and/or getting dizzy at every workout. I started taking a maltodextrin shake and problem solved.

    That sucks.

    I've never actually passed out.

There have been many, many times where I wanted to puke, but I've never had the issue of coming close to fainting.

I suppose this is something that can be specific to the individual.

Fuzzy, I'd take a few days off from any kind of training. It will help.

Hm... what does it feel like to you other guys who have passed out?

To me it felt like I just closed my eyes for a second, then I was on my back with the coach lapping water on my face. One moment I feel myself falling forward after my rep, next Im looking up at the ceiling and his crooked nose.

The worst bit has to be my head right now, someone crashed it with a sledge hammer, Im sure!

I've puked a few times after doing some squats.

I was telling a friend about ATF squats once and was watching him try them out. After a few reps he started wobblin and went crashing forward. I don't know how he got the bar into the holding pins, but he was damn lucky because the side bars were set all the way to the floor.

When I do drop sets on a Farmer's Walk I usually get close to fainting. Or I am so lightheaded that I have to sit down and drink lots of water.

My brother use to hold his breath a lot. One time he was sitting on the leg extenson machine and he wasn't moving. He jsut blacked out and no one really noticed. Was pretty funny.
