Kinda, I did 190x1 (I weight 185) the other day.

I am recovering from a torn rotator cuff too, so I am pretty damn proud of that.

I can jerk over 200, but strict form standing? I could get my bodyweight... but that would be a max.

Is seated harder than standing or what? I only do seated to avoid cheating with my legs and I can put more focus into the lift instead of balancing.

I thought standing is the correct way to do the military press. I haven't heard of most of these exercises until recently and I just use those diagrams on the ExRx site. The guy doing the military press is standing there. I might be wrong though.

If you do them strict standing is much harder. Try it. NO dipping the legs.
I think I got 85lbs one hand that way.

Seated is easier for me if your not using legs in the standing.

I'd say standing is a lot harder, because you really have to have a strong core to push the weight up above your head, without shaking violently. But 225x6 seated is impressive. Try out standing OH press next time and test out what kind of numbers you can get. For some people it's not a huge difference, but for me it definitely is.

Yes, I would say standing is more difficult for the reasons stated. Personally, the angle I fnd myself in seated gves my shoulder joints problems (I'm old). Standing allows me to position myself better in the center of gravity and my joints do much better. So to me, standing is easier.

It's much safer to do them standing. Sitting places all of the weight on your spinal column, without using your body's primary shock absorbers.

I'm still far away from strictly pressing my bodyweight overhead.

When doing standing, BB milies with bar in front, do you guys let the bar touch or come close to touching your chest?

If seated is so much easier I might be able to do my BW seated seeing as how I think I'd be able to get close standing. But this is not really a lift I ever plan to max out on as I feel it's pointless.

Really, I haven't maxed in months since I see no real reason to other than to boost my ego.

The bar should always be used in front.

Is it anatomically possible to touch your chest? Maybe it depends on the individual, because I could see no way that I could touch my chest.

pre injury I was doing 132 * 8 standing strict full ROM bar to upper chest at 170lb(was getting new PB every week - injury stopped all progress), would like to think I would have got 1 rep max at 170 if I had tried.

Many people who do push presses go behind the neck.

My starting position with standing milies is with the bar in a sort of a front squat position. So yeah, it's possible for me.
