Hey guys.
I got some friends of mine that have been doing some pretty ****ed up things.
I don't know how to approach them or even if I should. I don't think they do cocaine or heroin or stuff like that.......but they do smoke weed ALOT. Its so bad that it usually affects their social, family and work life. They also have started to snort percacet. Right now I'm on percacet for my surgery and they wanted some, so they could crush it....snort it, put it under their eyes etc.
I didn't care about the weed but it seems like they are really messing themselves up. One of them has no job, no car, no money, no health insurance or anything like that....he's completely ****ed. So he's gotten really depressed and started to use these drugs....
What should I do? I care about them...but they are grown adults (20)....Who am I to tell them what to do?

Do what you can bro ... weed aint no big thing to me but when you start banging and crushing pills for snorting , no way .
Personally I'd probably whack him in the eye .
Give me your broken , give me your beaten ... I will build them up , I will lead them ... to the threshhold . Make you stronger , make you believe .
That wouldn't help.......not only is he twice my size....I think hes like 6'0 260 pounds but hes a really nice guy......Its weird. Hes a big redneck and you wouldn't think he did all this crap but he does. I also kinda don't blame him...his life is pretty messed up right now......although it wouldn't nearly be as bad if he didn't do so much ****.
I want him to stop....but even more I'd like to get his life back on track. I just don't see how.

Be there for them as a friend. They don't need someone to tell them what to do and not do. Help him get a job if you can. Try to get him to start lifting with you. Get him involved in anything. Saying "hey drugs are bad for you" is not going to do a bit of good.

Painkillers and weed are the most popular drugs for people your age right now, so they're normal on that front. Putting painkillers in your eyes is new to me (wonder if that works?). Everyone knows someone who is wasting away, just say your piece if it makes you feel better, but just let it be

The marines won't be an option for him if he's using regularly and fails the drug tests.
Is this a long time friend?
There's a fine line between trying to help a friend, and getting dragged down with them. With these situations, some people just can't be helped. I would be worried about driving around in a car with them or hanging out with them at their homes...everyone that I knew that was into drugs ended up getting robbed and beaten, or shot. These were upper class kids in a wealthy area, too.
Oh and about the painkillers...the time release ones normally last half a day, but if you crush them up and snort or smoke them, you get the full effects jammed into 20 minutes or so. That's the idea behind oxycontin.

Well painkillers can be a bitch but man are they fun when you're on them. I'd venture to say they're the most addictive type of drug that is (almost) readily available for our age group(I'm 20). Do them a favor and try not to give them very many (if any at all) and if I were you I'd start making up excuses as to how you ran out or whatever and hide the bottle so they don't know any better.
BTW I'm not quite sure exactly how you put painkillers "under your eye" but I'm not buying that it actually works. Just try to support them when they start getting motivated to actually get off their ass and do something.

I have some friends who went through this same lifestyle. Be their friend but you got to let them figure it out for themselves. Subtle advice does not hurt but to preach will not help. This is only my opinion and what I found out of my past experience with this type of stuff. Good luck.

I have no intentions on giving them my percacet. I need it myself.....my recovery is extremely painful and I'm not going to waste my limited supply on them.
And these aren't normal pain killers. Percacet is MUCH stronger then advil or Tylenol......they are dealing with very strong painkillers....
Its sad...they could have great lives if they didn't **** them up..

My buddy was getting into meth, I told him stop or i'll call the cops on him.
He did meth again, I called the cops he freaked told me he'll never do it again and hasn't.

He needs a metaphorical kick in the ass. I would bet that he doesn't see himself as a druggy. They won't change unless they want to. Sometimes the best way to get people to change is to get them to see them selves they way everyone else does. You don't have to be an ******* about it, but make it clear how you feel about them.
I also support the idea to get them involved in anything. Find something they really like to do (other than get high and play video games) and do that often with them. Then try and do that in situations where they can't be on drugs.
It's very tough. Fortunatly I don't have any friends that are addicted to anything, but I do work with many young(er) kids who are junkies. It's very sad to see.
Yes it is....if he shaped up a bit he could have a decent life. We all have problems and hurdles to get over.....a normal person deals with it in a healthy manner....conquers in and moves on to grow into a healthy productive adult.
It seems like he'll just keep messing himself up until it really catches up to him and he finds himself in rehab.
P.S. This thread is more to vent my frustrations then it is advice.....we've confronted him numerous times. He just says hes ok and keeps going...

Pretty much my only close friend in real life asked me a few weeks ago if that he were ever popping pills/ doing drugs if I would do something.
I said that I wouldn't let him do it around me, but I could only stop him when I was around and that at heart if he really wanted to he could because I couldn't be around him all the time. I would proverbially and maybe even physically smack him across the head for being a moron and let him know where the **** falls on that kind of thing.
People will make their own choices and people feel differently on the subject, I don't need one of my few friends dying especially the closest one.
