    Value of baseball/hockey cards

I saw these mentioned in Sharkall's DVD thread, and I was wondering how much the good ones are worth these days. I've got a whole bunch from the 80's and early 90's, when I was a kid. Most of them are still in basically mint condition. I don't see them around as much anymore. Any resources for selling them?

Yeah, that's what I was thinking... probably half the people on WBB do. I guess they're not likely to be worth much, then.

In 25 years some might be worth a couple bucks.....literally. Keep your rookies (only if they are decent ball players) and get rid of the rest.

They're pretty much worthless because companies mass produced the hell out of them.

I bought about 15 random unopened packs from the 1980s on Ebay a few months ago for about 15 bucks; when I am bored I randomly open one. I have about 10 left to go.

U should goto Barnes and Nobles and check out the Beckett books. 95% of the cards are useless but I got a Jordan Rookie and thats guta be worth something. I got like hundreds of rookies, but most turned out to be stiffs.

Haha, part of my problem is I don't even know who the rookies are, or what to look for. I haven't followed either sport since I was about 7.

Holywars: I didn't have anything particular in mind, but maybe we can generate some ideas

    Edit:
I also have tons of Garbage Pail Kids, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Dick Tracy, Nintendo, and other assorted cards. Any of those worth anything?

Do kids still like these things? I might just bring them to the elementary school by my house and give em to the kids.

Baseball cards, expcept for a very select few, are a horrific investment. I have some mickey mantles and some other old cards that my uncle gave me when I was a kid that have done nothing but drop in price since mantle died. I haven't looked them up in probably 5 years, but I remember the most expensive one dropping in value over 50% since I first got it. Something is only worth what someone else is willing to pay you for it, so price guides are essentially worthless anyways-they're just a guideline.
My brother and I were brutal. I once chased him around the house with a spoon that I put on the burner. I burned that little pricks leg. -sharkall2003

Then I saw a little african boy sleeping, and I thought...that is little Okeke. he is tired from herding all the goats and the big goat got away today - Rock

Except that these days, you risk being sued for showing 'non-PC' material to kids, or something stupid like that.

That's very true. I doubt whether I have anything that's even close to those ones you're describing, either.

It's too bad...15 years ago baseball cards were huge. It was my passion.

Now it's pretty much died out.

That's true, unless you have complete sets and then you may be able to get more $$ for them.
A child does not learn to squat from the top down. In other words, he does not suddenly make a conscious decision one day to squat. Actually, he is squatting one day and make the conscious decision to stand. Squatting precedes standing in the developmental sequence. This is the way a child's brain learns to use the body as the child develops movement patterns. Therefore, a child is probably crawling, rocks back into a squatting position with the back completely relaxed and the hips completely flexed, and stands when he has enough hip strength. This approach makes a lot of sense and can be applied to relearning the deep squat movement if it is lost. -Gray Cook
