I just got back from my first time rock climbing. I went to an indoor place called Inner Peaks. Man, I have not had this much fun in quite some time. The reason I'm posting this in the weight lifting forums is the fact that I couldn't have done any of what I did today 2 years ago. Hanging by my arms, gripping odd shaped rocks, pulling my body up a wall. All of that stuff would have been impossible when I weighed 200lbs of mostly fat. The work I've put into my body for the past 2 years has allowed me to enjoy physical activity so much more. I can see where my work has been going. This experience has given me the inspiration to continue my physical transformation. It's awesome to be physically fit!
Rock climbing is the shizzle. Great forearm/lat blasting. I wish I had more access to a rock wall or the real thing.

So true. My forearms are going to be feeling it tomorrow. There were parts where I was just hanging by my hands and pulling myself up. Others where I had to jump from handhold to handhold, foothold to foothold. That was fun. I felt like a freakin'scaling those walls lol.
I am lenky with long arms, climbing is good for me. We used to climb trees up to the highest point that would support us. When I went to visit my brother (Air Force base) in Idaho they had one of the sweetest gyms I have been to, they had a treadmill rock wall. I spent most of my time in the gym on it.

I *heart* rock climbing. They have some great indoor places around me, including one that was built inside some old grain silos. You can climb 70 feet up in them and they even have a sheer route up the outside of the building that goes up 110 feet. It's the best grip/endurance/strength/cardio workout you can imagine all in one.

Hell yes. My friend has one of those in his apartment complex gym. It's really short though and doesn't provide nearly the challenge as a real wall.
I just looked at the membership fees for this rock climbing place. For 6-months it's about $300... That's more than I was thinking. I can afford $22 once a month maybe. Rats. I guess it's something to look forward to when I get a nice paying job.
