    I want RIPPED Abs!

I have done some searching on this site and on the net to get some good info thus far but I still have some unanswered questions.

As of now I workout 3-4 times a week, upper body, legs and some ab excercises to warm up. I am 6'3, 175 lb (I'm Thin) and although I have a flat stomach when I stand and somewhat of a 4 pack, when I set down I have a roll of fat and I think that is the reason why my abs aren't getting ripped. As of now I have no intensive cardio in my workout but I walk 3 miles a day (to class and back).

My question for you experts is are my abs not getting ripped because my workout for those muscles is not hardcore enough or should I continue my current workout but just include an intensive cardio to burn some fat off.

I have a picture of my shirt off and can put it on here if that will help you diagnois my questions better, please let me know.

well abs are normally built in the kitchen with clean diet up ur already lean, id say just add some weight when you do ur crunches in order to build the muscles so make them show, and keep the diet clean to keep the fat off

I'm not sure what my % is, is that something I can do myself or someone that is trained has to?

A low fat diet has nothing to do with weight loss. If you want an exposed 6-pack you need to put yourslef in a caloric deficit long enough to lose enough fat to show the muscle.

Fat doesn't make you fat. And low fat is a very bad idea considering fat's function in the body (you'd die without it). Both things you said will do nothing to help him reveal his abs more. Lowering his overall body fat percentage will do this. And lowering fat intake is not one of the methods for doing this. I think you need to take a gander at this link ~> http://www.wannabebig.com/article.php?articleid=284

Sounds like my little brother. He's 5'8" like I am, but weighs 115lbs. He's definitely not fat and has a low bf%, but no distinct abs.

Deadlifts have really helped my core, weighted crunches and sit-ups twice a week. You have to have some muscle there to get that ripped look imho.

You still need SOME amount of LBM to have muscle showing through at a low body fat percentage. Obviously, if you have no muscle, you're just going to look anorexic at a low body fat percentage. Bulk...then cut. Yay abs!

all about diet, you dont even need to do situps to have ripped abs. I'd say go low carb and make sure your protien is heigh and fat moderate. The carbs you do eat should be fiberous like veggies and whatnot.

You need to have abs underneath what you're cutting in order to see abs. They still involve some work.

so as for abs. you go with heavier weight? i figured you would do more reps to cut the abs....

i do decline leg raises 2x35 or however many i can do..
    regular sit ups...

6inches (legs off the ground laying flat)..

    etc.

and the machines i usually keep a moderate weight and just burn the abs with reps.

    .

"cutting" has nothing to do with the number of reps. It's all about diet.

In order to have solid good looking abs you need to work them. But to show them off...that's all diet.

the key* to getting abs is doing ab workouts just like any other muscle group of the body. You should do ab exercises with weights. Ex. 5 X 8 situps with a 25lb weight. Try doing maybe 3 lifts with a few sets on each lift. One thing I have noticed about the abs is they recover quicker than other muscle groups (at least in my body) so you can work them hard multiple times in a week. Another thing to think about is your body fat %. If that is too high it doesn't matter how big your ab muscles are they won't show. A lot of times the fat in the stomach area is the last place where you will lose it.
