ok so all of a sudden this area of my neck REALLY started hurting.

It kept me from even getting one good rep of arnold presses while lifting, what do you all think? Take a few days off and go for it again? Or is that area not very important and I should just lift through it?

I would bet you strained it while lifting heavy. I've hurt my neck doing curnches before lol
Get some rest and see a doc if you're concernd - neck injuries can be bad.

You probably strained the muscle while you were straining for a rep, I'd say maybe lower the intensity for a weak and see how it feels by the end. if it's still sore see a doc.

i used to pull muscles in my neck all the time wen i didn't warm up right. Best advice is to leave off lifting for a few days... if you give it time, it'll be better 3-5 days
