What do you think of this university gym?

As a high school senior, I'm in the final stages of college selection.

I'm going to visit Washington and Lee at the end of this month. I accidentally stumbled across their athletic facility web site (I googled power lifting "washington and lee").

    http://athletics.wlu.edu/fitness_center/facilities.htm

At first, I thought this facility was only for the athletes. But, as I came to the bottom of the page, I saw "The facility is for use of the entire university community; students, faculty, staff, and student athletes to benefit in all aspects of health and fitness."

I'm surprised that they have twenty-five platforms and several squat / power racks.

    http://athletics.wlu.edu/fitness_center/strength.htm

It'll be a few weeks before I head up to the campus, but the photos definitely piqued my curiosity.

For a university gym, what are your thoughts?

It looks too nice for me....lol. Univ. of Georgia's weightroom is much nicer. It's older, has rubber flooring, dbells that go up to 150 and older machines. It's perfection.

Looks kinda small but if it's a smaller college you shouldn't have trouble.

It looks pretty good. Not my ideal choice but it would def. be much better then the gym I train at now.

My University gym is in a dark, dusty basement. It doesn't look anything like that. There are four squat racks and two benches. And yet, I rarely have to wait for a squat rack so I can't really complain. It's perfect for my needs.

I'm seriously doing the same thing right now. I want to know if any of the schools I'm considering have a glute-ham raise, reverse hyper, and t-bar row machine, and power rack. Chains would be sweet, too.

UNCW's gym is "nice" and it has most everything I need, but a glute-ham would be sweet.

At the University of Southern California I work at the gym. Recently the rec center (where the gym is located) came under fire because although we pay out the anus for tuition the rec center still charges nickles and dimes for different services and it really pisses people off.

A lot of people say our gym sucks but to be honest it has everything I need to get jacked so they can go shut up.

Yeah, membership for anyone thats even loosely affliated with the school is only $75 a semester (5 months). If I wasn't in the Army I'd be doing my best to stay around here after college just so I could use the gym for $150 a year.

Hey Bikkstah, If you haven't already, check out the weight room by Waldo Stadium. It's open Monday-Thursday from 8-11pm, but it has 6 power racks, 8 benches, and 1,000,000 lbs of weight. No cardio bunnies though..

My friend goes to W&L... be prepared to be absolutely owned by the Fraternity system. Something like 90% of the guys at W&L rush frats their freshman year. Great school though.

They're currently expanding/renovating the main university gym I go to. It will be 340,000 sq. ft. and will have everything. They just finished expanding and renovating the smaller facility, which is now 110,000 sq. ft. Too bad their free weight area sucks.
