Advice/comments please from the men in particular. The biggest problem we have in our household is knowing how much my husband should eat (portions). I've got my needs under control (calories/frequency) but I find it difficult to help my hubby. I'm the one who does all the reading, researching etc. I can on nutrition. He will willingly listen, absorb and eat whatever is put in front of him, but has no interest in researching his own. I know I have to keep in mind he needs way more food than I do (he's 90-95lbs heavier @ 6'1" roughly 200-205) but I often think his portions are crazy. Example, this morning he ate for breakfast: omelette consisting of 1 extra large whole egg and 4 additional whites with shredded cheese and mushrooms, 2 pieces of texas toast w/natty PB and a bit of sugar free jam, a fat free yogurt (50cals) and a large banana. Does that seem excessive? The problem with him eating such large meals as well is that he's often not hungry for hours and hours afterwards. Do you think I am underestimating his needs?

That's not really a surprise. Hydration levels, waste being held in the body, time of day, or whether he's eaten anything or not can affect scale weight. I've taken a 2 lb dump before. If he's not weighing himself at the same time under the same circumstances, it doesn't mean much. I like to do it first thing in the morning after I use the bathroom and before I've eaten.
If he's maintaining and happy with the weight, he's fine. If he wants to lose the fat, he needs to eat less.

The concept (eating less/caloric deficit) is of course common sense, what I really wanted to know is, does the volume of food seem like a lot to other guys? What would be an example of your breakfast? (Especially on the weekend, if, like us, you may tend to have a bigger breakfast).

1 egg=70 cals
4 egg whites=45 cals
Cheese=100
Mushrooms=20
Texas Toast=200
PB=200-300
Yogurt=50
Banana=100
That is 785-885. Not that excessive depending on his goals/needs. Only issue I would see is lots of carbs.

I'm not a big breakfast, but I definately chow down at other times of the day. Lately I've been having a 1300 calorie shake. My daily total is around 3500-4000 and I only weight 155 lbs (gaining, mind you). So that breakfast really doesn't sound crazy to me. And look on the bright, side: it's healthy!
It all comes down to his entire day.

If he wants to drop the belly, drop the cals 10-20% and get him lifting.
This morning, I had onion and 8oz onions sauteed in olive oil and then 3 whole eggs and 3 whites scrambled in, topped with 2 slices of Fat free American cheese and 2 pieces of Aunt Millie's Fiber For Life Whole Wheat toast. It's in the neighborhood of 530 calories...so I guess what I'm saying is that I don't see it being really out of line. If I'd added peanut butter, that's right about where his breakfast was.

That's a pretty normal breakfast IMO...
I eat 6 whole eggs with a bit of cheese and whatever meat is in my refrigerator, wrapped in 2 flour tortillas, a protein shake consisting of 2-3 cups milk, 3 scoops of Nitrean, a banana, oats, peanut butter and ice...

I don't think that sounds excessive at all, and if it keeps him full...then great. You don't HAVE to eat every 2-3 hours, and as long as his calories are in check throughout the day there should be no problem.
I am a female that weighs around 130 at any given time and I'm pretty sure that under "normal" circumstances even I could eat that for a breakfast. For a 200 lb man, that's nothing!
When I bulk I have The hungry man Burrito. 4 eggs, 2oz FF cheese, 3-4 slices of pan fried ham with fat free cooking spray. I will have this with a 16oz glass of fat free milk. And then maybe a banana or apple.

Generally i don't eat a large breakfast because my mom's always bitching about eating too many eggs. Generally 2 scrambled eggs in a whole wheat tortilla, slice of swiss cheese, little ketchup and a bowl of oatmeal. rest of the day is when i pack in my cals lol
