I definitely failed. The free response questions were killer. I got done with the Multiple Choice, seemed like I did good. Left like 3 blank. Went to the FR- got the first one no prob. But the other 5 seemed impossible. When we all go done, we all just looked at each other and said... What the hell did we do all year? Me and my friends all were AP Calc beasts but this test killed us all. What about everyone else who took it today?

Sorry about the test, but do we really need 2 threads about this?

I was thinking the same thing. why the hell would you leave multiple chopice questions blank.
and why the hell would you start ANOTHER thread instead of just update the old one?

What sort of essay questions do they have for a calculus exam?

Why do you guys gotta pick apart my post? Free Response Questions- whatever....

You leave them blank because you get points taken off for getting the answer wrong. Also, you can run out of time and forget to go back and try again.

If you think calc sucks, try organic chemistry or anything with thermodynamics in the title.
That being said I used to think highschool ap classes were so damn hard so I can sympathize, then I got into college, and I would kill for a class as easy as AP U.S. history again.
EDIT: Ap calc is hard, but in calc II I had to memorize some 80 or so integral forms, and don't even get me started on infinite series.

Depends on the person, I don't mind calc too much, so I'm less worried about p-chem than I was about orgo.Psh, Orgo < PChem. Now THAT'S a kick-in-the-nuts hard class.
Same here, about to start my senior year, I'm going to apply to med schools this summer.I'm gonna have to. I wanna become an M.D.
What colleges you looking at?
Don't be a biology major unless you have good extracurriculars and can pull off a 4.0.

Ok... Lemme tell you guys a little something about myself so you guys can advise me which is better to major in. I am a kid who has never picked up a book to read or study. Saying this, i was ranked like 12 in my Senior Class. I LOVE Bio, Chem, and Math. I took Anat/ Physio this year in Hgh School, and absolutely loved it. Since then, I've wanted to become a doctor. (I wanna be the next Dr. House). Which major is "better," if there's such a thing as "better."
Chemistry?
Biochemistry?
Biology?

Take a class in each your first year and decide from there. You might get into the college courses and realize that one just isn't right for you or that you couldn't imagine yourself in another major. Talk to a pre-med advisor as well. He or she will be better able to tell you what classes will get you closer to becoming House.

I had to take Thermodynamics for engineering, and it really wasn't as bad as people made it out to be. It's one of those courses where you need to work really hard at first, and then suddenly everything will click. I actually found it really interesting and it almost made me consider going into Mechanical Engineering.
That quote was not mean to be taken so literally. I probably should've followed through with mentioning that there are literally thousands of biology students who all are "pre-med" and alot of them don't make it because they are a cookie cutter copy from the rest, and unless you have something that you can really distinguish yourself (great grades, extra curriculars, don't bother).Don't be a biology major unless you have good extracurriculars and can pull off a 4.0.
Don't take this too seriously. Wayyy too many factors to take into consideration.
That being said there are many routes to going into medicine.
As far as major goes. It really depends on your interests, medical schools look at a vast array of areas. If you pick an easier major such as psychology, you should really be spending a good chunk of free time working in a clinic in town, or volunteering somewhere, such as at a nursing home or helping special needs kids.
If you are really interested in chemistry major in chemistry, or if more natural systems appeal to you major in biochem or even microbiology. Freshman year is a nice time to figure that out because you can get alot of the fundamental courses out of the way without having to necessarily pick a major.
I would recommend that you're freshman year you take general chemistry, calc I, whatever biology your pre-med advisor/advisor recommends, and some electives. That way, regardless of what major you choose, you will have some core classes knocked out.
I'm a biochemistry major as I probably mentioned before. I'm not going to lie, it's really hard. I never studied in highschool, but for classes like orgo, it doesn't matter how smart you are, there is a ton of information to retain, and alot of incredibly abstract material, nobody coasts through organic chemistry.
Also a large consideration is what type of learning suits you best, I've always been a good conceptual learner, I enjoy grasping and applying concepts, I have a great memory but memorizing information bores the ***** out of me which is why I wasn't a biology major.

Excellent advice.
yankeekd25: Since you said that you "LOVE Bio, Chem, and Math", take a bunch of science classes as a freshman. Major in whatever you want - just remember that the 5 biggies (calc, bio, p chem, o chem, physics) are the most important classes by far.

I'm hoping to go cardio thoracic, although after 4 years of medical school that may change, surgery appeals to me the most. What about yourself?
