Your best bet is going to a running store and being fitted for a shoe. It is going to make a huge difference, especially if you are running for distance.

Nike = fashion shoes. IMO, I hate them. I mean, I have a couple pairs of shox like all the cool kids, but they're for everyday wear, not running.
I run is saucony grid regulates and have a pair of grid domains. The regulates are pretty bulky, and I've heard that it feels like there's a golf ball under your foot if you've got flatter feet, but I love them.
Looking for a lifetime stand - One night at a time.
It all depends on how wide your foot is.. nike's are really tight on me b/c my feet are really wide, so new balances or asics work really well for me.

i like merrell trail running shoes

looks like they dont make the ones i wear anymore but theyre awesome. waterproof, extremely tough and long lasting. paid 120 like 2 years ago at least for em, still in great shape
For purely running, I go with Asics.
I know you're half-crazy, but I wish you'd go all the way.

The best pair of shoes I have for running is the pair of Asics I got at basic training years ago. I've ran at least 1000 miles on them and they fit and flex as good as the day I got them, all for $10.
