America Has Just Reclaimed Its Manhood

    http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,277414,00.html

    From the article:
"Kobayashi's old record of 53 3/4 was set last year at Nathan's Famous Fourth of July Hot Dog Eating Contest, held at Coney Island in New York, said George Costos, who helps runs the regional contests for Nathan's."

Looks like we got a showdown on July 4th. Makes me proud to be a Californian

I can't believe it. I thought Kobayashi was unbeatable, and he completely smashed the record. Awesome.

Thats insane to think that a human (not morbidly obese) can eat that much in such little time. Wouldn't you suffocate or something?

Chestnut won a free trip to New York, a year's supply of hot dogs and a $250 gift card to the mall.
So, how much would a year's supply of hot dogs be to that guy? 1,000? 3,000? That's just sick.

Haha, looks like you're off by a factor of ummm 10 or so, Guido. If I were to eat THREE hot dogs a day I'd already be around 1,000/year. Seeing as he eats roughly twenty times that, you're looking at somewhere around 15,000-20,000!

I'm guessing if he eats hot dogs competetively, he's not gonna have them as a regular meal.

But does that "year's supply" include those for "training" purposes?

kobayashi has some muscle to him now, I guess those dogs get heavy.
Remember, to get big, you have to get strong. The two are interconnected. Lift heavy, work hard, and size will come. Like night follows day. It works. Arnold

I'd hope he's not eating 50+ hot dogs every single day.

Truth be told, Kobayashi hasn't been beaten yet. The guy who "shattered" the record, won a local competition, not the official Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest, which means the hot dogs could've been slightly smaller, different rules, etc.

I seriously doubt that...it was a regional final (eating is a sport now, why would they use a diff. sized hotdog!?)

guess we'll see on July 4th

this doesn't surprise me. not that im an eating sports afficianado or anything, but when i was watching the nathan's contest last year it seemed like he was going to take down kobayashi, but kobayashi hammered down like 3 within the last minute to beat chestnut. (don't tell me you guys haven't watched one of these events before).

That is disgusting. Hot dogs are disgusting. Hot dogs in massively high numbers is just evil.

    But it's cool too.

I love watching the competitions but I hate hotdogs... I can eat a few every now and then with some chillie on them but I really dislike the vast majority of hotdogs.
