Im curious, when im doing preacher hammer curls i feel it in both the forearm and a little in the biceps. I used to hear people say hammers are for forearms, but some sites say that they are to hit your bicep a different way. so what is it? and i like them on the preacher with the hammer curl tricep bar
They will hit both your biceps and forearms. They will mostly elongate your biceps because of the motion but will also work your forearms a little.

I get a bicep and pec hit from the movement, and forearms from gripping the DB. I do'em standing tho'.....
I too would like to see an article that shows the difference in curling with the forearm rotated 0° and 90°.

I raise the DB with my arm about 45° in front of me instead of straight up like shown in that video. I may be all wrong, but I swear feel it in my pecs.

I think preacher curls are garbage. There is only resistance in the bottom of the movement.

drop sets on preacher hit the biceps pretty hard.........kind of off topic but just my 2 cents.
I used to work hammer curls into my routine but dont anymore. I felt like i was wasting time. I have now switched to single arm cable bicep curls. Tension through the entire ROM.![]()

I believe that when the body is strong, the mind thinks strong thoughts. Time spent away from the Iron makes my mind degenerate. I wallow in a thick depression. My body shuts down my mind.

they hit the forearm more for me. I just did them. I do them right after standing bar curls.
I do 3x8 one day a week as an accessory lift when i do Quad day (BGB routine), they give me much more of a forearm workout than bicep, although I undoubtedly feel it in the bicep as well.
All in all not a fan of bicep curls, but i like BFB, so i'm following it strictly until the end of summer when i switch to a PL routine.

To reiterate what some have said, hammer curls are different because the brachialis muscle (http://www.exrx.net/Muscles/Brachialis.html) as ewll as other elbow flexors is emphasized. Preacher curls help isolate the movement and apply resistance throughout the entire ROM (if done right).
Do the math and put those two together.

For me the preacher curl hits the brachialis muscle which is neither the bicep or the forearm if I understand the anatomy correctly.![]()
