Avatar Size
What does everyone think about allowing slightly larger avatars? Say 100x100?
I have noticed that a few other boards have bigger avatar pictures, although it does get out of hand on some boards where they allow very large pictures (t-nation, etc.).

Nothing wrong with the idea for me. Sounds great actually, the pics are kind of small. Just make sure they aren't huge or anything if this idea goes through.

they are waaaaay too small, I don't know of ANY other board that has their avatar limits set as low as this one, we are in 2009 and if you don't own a 20" (or bigger) wide screen monitor you really just suck and should not be surfing the web.

I disagree, just because sometimes when I am trying to post workouts in my journal from my blackberry, it takes a long time to load all the pictures, and I know it would be quite a bit longer with bigger Avatars.

On one of of the other boards where I post they have a very small size limit on the uploads but the display size is not too small, must just be a bit lower quality in terms of the pixels.

I think it's a good idea if Dan can sort it out with relative ease

I say 150 X 150. That's a pretty good size for avatars. but yes, bigger avatars for sure!

I could increase them with a tap of a button
![]() I choose them small because I think they look better and also I hate seeing boards with huge avatars, it just looks a bit chaotic. I probably went a bit overboard though, I could take it to 100px I guess.

How hard would it be to set the site up for mobile users? I'm on another forum that does that.....if I log on with my phone, it somehow knows it's a mobile device logging in, and diverts me to the mobile site which displays text only, and in a different, mobile friendly format.

I would say that anything from 100x100 to 150x150 would be good.
It adds some more color to the forum and encourages people to post their actual pictures instead of just logos and whatnot.

If SDS's picture is any example, I think the avatars need to be larger.

Ok, I have increased the size to 100x100. Anything more than that and I think they overpower the content in the posts.
You'll need to re-upload new bigger avatars by the way.
