Building a Monster Upper Back

A huge and thick upper back is the hallmark of the alpha strength athlete. Only those with the fortitude and will to train with the requisite intensity will achieve the kind of upper back that literally intimidates and inspires awe in all who see it.

If you truly want the biggest and strongest back possible, it is necessary to combine the best of both the powerlifting and bodybuilding worlds!

505lb deadlift. Form is a work in progress.

Video

Still working on form. Plus I have a naturally rounded back when I bent down.

Congrats on the lift.

Your legs went up fast, turned into more of an upper back deadlift. It took me some time to get leg drive down but it makes a huge difference.

Keep up the great work.

Came off the ground fast. Work on that lockout and you'll be hitting heavier weight in no time.

Also: Lose the straps!

Heavy GMs, rack pulls and deficit deads will help you from straightening your legs then stiff legging it..

1. lose the straps
2. looks like more of a stiff leg DL to me... echoing what chris mason, and view 1 think.
3. I had this issue a while ago. Once corrected you will be pulling heavier weights in no time.
4. deficit deads off a 4-6" box helped me a lot to correct that. Also GHR can help, along with everything littlejake says.
5. Good work looking forward to seeing another PR from you soon
