I don't mind the cutscenes but I felt it was a bit much for my first couple hours of play. I don't have any other complaints so maybe I was just looking for something to complain about.

I was going to pick an elf rogue, but decided to go with a human warrior instead. Let me know what you think of the rogue because I'll probably go that route next. That's usually the type of class that I enjoy. I only decided on the warrior because I figured it'd be a good choice to have a solid tank leading the group.

I went this route as well. Will play an elf rogue next. Game is very fun so far.

I picked human-rogue-assassin and then I'm going to choose duelist as well (you can have two specializations in case you didn't know). I'm about 20 hours in and the game is amazing very good. The amount of things you can do and not do based on your choices is insane. My rogues crits are insane now to.

I started a new game as a human rogue. The rogue is much more my style than the warrior. I'm having Allistar or whatever his name is do the tanking and my rogue is just tearing guys down from behind.

Thats exactly what I'm doing Allistar makes a crappy tank though until you get him better armor. I finally got some nice templar armor for him and he's been doing a lot better.

Forgot to add - use poisons there insane with rogue. Traps for Alistar they help with his tanking.

Yeah, Allistar isn't the greatest but he's doing the job for now. I am using poisons and they rock. I can also make traps, but I find myself not using them. I've been playing most of the game on "hard" difficulty so friendly fire is on and the traps end up hitting my own guys.

The more I play the more this game rocks. It's crazy. I just got laid by Morrigan haha.

9.5 on GameSpot for PC which is incredibly high. Looks like this and Modern Warfare 2 will be the ones which I break my new computer in with! Thanks for bringing it up JP2. I love role-playing games (Dungeon Siege anyone?).

Never played Dungeon siege but I remember watching a lot of game play vids and stuff because I was interested in it. It was @ college though so I decided I'd better not. Anyways this games looks very similar to that it had a Diablo feel to it when your in a Dungeon.

I've been trying to get with morrigan but she doesn't like me much maybe after I do her sidequest.

Make sure you give Morrigan all the gifts you find, that should make her like you more

Yep she's started to like me now and I haven't done her side quest yet so that should help a lot.

Sorry to rez an old thread but I got this game on Friday and I'm addicted lately. And yes, you have to get Morrigan to like you and talk to her a bunch. I gave her 2 golden rope necklaces and asked about her shapeshifting, and her mother, and her being lonely in the woods. After around 20 minutes in camp for the first time, I was pulling the salami train into tuna town. But the sex scenes are kinda dumb.

But yeah, give her shiny stuff as gifts, she likes that stuff. Leilana likes clothes and andraste/church crap.

Yea it's pretty addicting. Morrigans side quest is insanely hard not sure if I'll be able to do it. I just started using leiliana her bard songs are awesome the one where she stuns everyone and then I have her as a beastmaster so she summons a monster as well. I'm 45 hours in and I still have a bunch of side quest I'm towards the end of the main story though. In the main story I say I probably have about 6-10 more hours.

I'm playing on Hard right now, I'm playing as a mage and I'm on the Wilds, and am already getting owned by the battle where the darkspawn mage attacks you from the bridge while some rogues jump you, and then he runs back to join up with even more darkspawn.
I've tried 5 times to beat it but my pride won't let me turn the difficulty down to normal. I love how much you really have to micromanage your party, just like in the original Baldur's gate, and it's not just about spamming abilities and then waiting for the cooldowns.
I can't begin to imagine what veteran is like.

Yea I play on hard there are some very tough battles. Even some of the random ones have had me stumped for a good 30 minutes or more. I absolutely could not beat the broodmother on hard though way way to tough. My rogue is gimped though because I didn't know dex was broken with daggers. If you beat her on hard or have let me know cause it's an insane battle.

What do you mean by this? Dexterity doesn't apply to daggers or what, or you had daggers that were affecting your dexterity?

You probably are already doing this, but set it up in your tactics so that your rogue just automatically goes into stealth mode during gameply, as it can't be activated once in combat. You get huge damage bonuses if you hit someone while stealth.

I should really work on my secondary applications tonight but now I'm getting all excited about trying to beat that stupid battle when I get home.

Well apparently they said that dex isn't increasing damage done by dagger which it is supposed to do. So the only way to play rogue is to use duel swords/axes and go strength with some dex. I've been increasing my strength now but it's to late to make much of a difference.

I usually main my rogue when I first enter battle and then go from there so I don't worry about his tactics. Have you used leiliana as a bard/ranger? She's awesome one of her songs stuns everyone in the area consistently every couple of seconds. With an animal summoned at the same time it's pretty useful.

Anyone know how the critical hit system in this game works?

Are you more likely to score a critical hit if the person you are fighting isn't attacking you?

I ask because there is the ability of the warrior class to switch over to the mode where they are more likely to score a critical hit, but attack slower.

lol, i can't imagine the game on hard. I just beat it yesterday on Normal mode (warrior 2h spec), some of the battles were brutal. I might play through on another character after I beat Borderlands. I just downloaded/installed it it a couple hrs ago and it's fun as hell so far!

I started a thread on borderlands a few weeks back. I can't speak for the PC multiplayer, but local co-op on the 360 is some of the most fun I've had in a long time. The amount of loot in the game is crazy. Like diablo, after you beat the game you can go back and play everything again but everything is scaled up. I'd be interested to see how the replayability holds up.

I've heard the PC graphics completely blow the 360 version out of the water.

sweet. Ya the game looks awesome on the PC. I love the art style. The loot is fantastic, and the quests are cool. I'm really enjoying the game. I haven't tried multiplayer yet.

The only way to increase criticals as far as positioning goes is to attack from the back I think. Thats the only way I know of.

I have two warrior classes with me right now, that's why I was wondering.
So it would make sense to have one of them use his aggro drawing abilities while the other switched into the mode that increased the chance for critical hits.

This game is so hard, I'm still only on the tower. That first battle when you first get into the tower is tough, took me about 10 tries. Pretty much everytime I'd be doing well in the battle, then one of my characters gets hit hard 2 or 3 times and suddenly goes from full health to death.

I can't wait to replay the game on veteran
