Multivitamin Quality

So I just bought a Men's Multivitamin from Wal-Mart. It is the off-brand that is supposedly a rebranded One-A-Day Multivitamin (http://www.one-a-day.com/products/menshealth.shtml).

So how quality is this?

I have heard some vitamins out there are extremely hard to take in for the body because they are made out of some artificial materials that are tough on the body.

So I just want to make sure that this will be a good multi.

It says to take with a glass of water after a meal, is this really sufficient?

Impatience is the key to success.

I don't see a problem with it. Stay away from Centrum though.

I always heard people saying to stay away from Centrum. Is there any particular reason?

The coating on the pills is really bad for you and the overall quality of Centrum simply isn't good. I think I remember seeing a site that showed Centrum at the bottom of a top 100 list.

Regardless of the frowning, Centrum still sucks.

Give AtLarge's Multi-Plus a try. It is specifically designed to support the needs of the hard training individual. It is also very reasonably priced with a per unit cost as low as $10.95 for a 30 day supply when you order 3 (plus shipping).

Well the reason I picked this up is because One-A-Day looks like a pretty large and respectable company, so I figured that this would be a decent pill. On top of that I am a poor 18 year old and I can get the Equate brand (exact same pill rebranded) for like 2 or 3 bucks for 120 pills.

A good start is reading the label.

Anybody that reads a label of centrum should be disgusted by the 5-12 synthetic preservatives.

Most are around 8 but I have seen up to 12.

Two of the best preservatives known to man are Vit C and E. I guess centrum doesn't have too much of that stuff.

Another good rule of thumb is don't buy a multi from a grocery store or a pharmacy. Unless they sell a legit brand of health products which in Canada is rare.

Which are synthetic? How can you tell?

Sorry, I'm no nutritionist.

Me neither. I'm just a hardcore bodybuilder concerned about his health.

Find the ingredients under:

Non-Medicinal Ingredients

Plug them into google.

Sorry if I offended you, as I didn't mean to. I am simply saying that I don't know **** about this stuff.

And on my bottle, I see nothing that depicts Non-Medicinal Ingredients.

Not in the slightest bro. What I'm trying to get at is it's very easy to learn what to stay away from. You don't have to become a nutrition expert either. It's really just a matter of resposibility. We owe it to ourselves to know what we put in out bodies.

It's quite possible that your multi does not have any preservatives AT ALL. Most good multi's don't. Just be sure to read the label entirely. They have to list everything.
