Pre-Workout carb supplement: Dextrose/MaltoDextrin/ or Fructose?

What would be best to take before working out, Dextrose, MaltoDextrin, or Fructose?

Crap, I just ordered some Fructose for pre-workout. I thought ooooooh fructose is a slower absorbing energy source, rather than a quick burst of energy, and a crash after.

Damn.... I wasted 35 bucks.

^hey man i used honey for my preworkout for a while. It worked really well for me. Fructose has its downsides (READ HERE), i would try it out anyway.

Honey is half glucose half fructose.

35$ of fructose! How many pounds did you buy?

There ain't much benefits with fructose, except to feed your spermatozoids.

If you take too much, you'll probably get the shlitz, as the intestinal bacterias will have a feast.
Maybe you could brew some alcool with it.

I bought 15 lbs. lol almost 3 bucks per lbs. 40 bucks in total actually.

I'll take a scoop once a day before working out..... It won't kill me will it? Is there any better uses for Fructose ?

It won't kill you but it certainly isn't going to help you much.

Glucose is king (dextrose)

(Well, ok, Malto too)

So dex is ok pre-workout? I thought you wanted slow carbs for pre, as in oats or malto?

Malto isn't slow

My pre is normally 1.5 hours out, and has been up to 160g dextrose. This timing and amount has never been the cause of my fat gain.

I can't say others will say the same. Well, besides my training partner.

Yep, mine's about 1-1.5 hours out too. Thanks for clearing that little misconception up, I'm going to start using dex preworkout now.

God damnit I shoulda just sticked with Dextrose... ahhh I'm so angry. I was too impatient to wait for replies on here before Processing my order.

Things can be so confusing! Fructose has a much lower GI than dextrose and Maltodextrin. I think fructose is around 30 GI comparing to dextrose and maltoDextrin which is around 99-100.

you want high GI when looking for a carb source pre-workout for energy purposes. plus (this is more PWO than PreWO) but fructose preferentially fills liver glycogen while dex and malto preferentially fill muscle glycogen.

Some fructose can be of use because a workout will deplete hepatic glycogen. Why not top it up beforehand.

I used a product in the late 90's that had a little fructose in it. Even post workout your liver is depleted so filling it up should promote anabolism. It's not like it's HFCS.

.

Cool, I love the internet. If it wasn't for the forums, I would be trying to set a new Bicep Curl PR.

How much dex/malto should be used for pre & post workout? I'm currently using 40g of each for pwo only. Should i add another serving for preworkout?
Thanks!

Generally you use it either before or after.

Personally I prefer it before. After a heavy session I have another shake with whey and oats.

If you are currently using 80g's I say keep running that.

I'll have to try it preworkout with the timing you suggested and see if it will help boost my workout. Cheers!
