The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

    Am i overdoing my biceps?

i am doing them around 5 days a week i usually do Hammer curls, preacher curls and barbell curls i do 4 sets of 10 for each, but on my last set i can only manage around 6 or 8. The reason i ask is im not sure if i am overdoing them because they are not acheing at all the next day even though im pushing them to the limit the day before so i just do them all the time basically, i do alternate what i do for my biceps i have just used them 3 as an example. I just want to know if i am hindering any gains by doing them nearly every 24 hours.

My god, you have so much to learn!

Whats your whole routine look like?

An aching after you lift is not what you are trying to acheive!!!

5 days a week for any muscle is far too much

A good set up would be 2 times a week max
    Weighted chin ups 3x8
    Hammer Curl 1x8
    Seated Iso Curls 1x8

You need to start reading more and using the search tool for your questions!

aint got time to write down my whole routine but tommorow morning ill be doing my chest:

    Dips 3 x 30
Cable cross overs (dont know the propper name) 2 x 15 Only light to strech off

    then

    smith machine:
    Flat 3 x 8
    Incline 3 x 8
    Decline 3 x 8
    Then
    Flat flys 3 x 8
    Incline flys 3 x 8

the weight goes up after each set and i usually only manage about 5 on my last set

due to time issues i go back in the late afternoon/evening to do another area

That's probably not the best routine for someone with your experience.

You might want to read around a bit to find a more suitible routine.
    Squats work better than supplements.
"You know, if I thought like that, I'd never put more than one plate on the bar for anything, I'd never use bands or chains, I'd never squat to parallel or below, and I'd never let out the slightest grunt when I lift. At some point in your lifting career (assuming you're planning on getting reasonably strong and big), you're going to have to accept that most people think you are some kind of freak." -Sensei

You're way overdoing it, buddy! I train my biceps once a week. I do them the same day I do back. After barbell rows and all that I use the cable crossover and set the cables at about the height of my head and just pull my arms inward. It works really really well for me; way better than BB/DB curls. Your biceps are probably begging you for some time to heal and grow!

Track your foods for a week. Eat like you normaly would. After a week find your average calories per day. Whatever that number is, add 200 to it. Then you will gain weight. If you feel like your not gaining enough, add some more.

is that enough for my chest? as for weight i usually fly with around 30kg and bench with around 50kg on either side of the bar so 100kg plus the weight of the bar.

Getting bigger and stronger is more about INTENSITY than volume. If you are using enough rate and the intensity level is high enough, then that is more than enough.

What are you doing or legs? If you're not squatting, you should start. Use freeweights for it, too, not the Smith.

You must have lost about 75lbs during that hospital stay.

I work my biceps during a full body routine once every 5 days. I do only 2 sets of dumbell curls. I'm seeing some pretty good results with just that. Way better than if I did even just 1 more set.
    Currently:
    age: 15
    height:5'8.5"
    weight: 143
    bench: 185
    squat: 225x15
    Goals by January '08:
    weight: 145-150
    bench: 210
    squat: 250x10
